Needing some advice as to what is the best option available for me and Thai g/f, As we are having a lovely time in oz at moment with her 3 motnh visa we are contemplating marriage in future, My friend who lives in Thailand says the new laws would allow me to marry in Thailand and my then to be wife would receive a dual citizenship ? Does anyone know of this or is he just talking @#$% ...

If that is all rubbish he has spoken what will be the requirements the Immi will want?

If i do marry her in Thailand what benefits do i have in the future? E.G.. Working and living in Thailand without work permit ?

Our idea is when we marry work for 6 months in oz and return to Thailand for 6 months ..

Any comments will be heplful..

Thank you.....Tinytot

If you get married in LOS it will have to be an "official" marriage at an Amphur office, the villiage wedding wont cut it, you would be better off getting married in Oz and if she wants have a villiage wedding back in LOS.

You won't get any advantages as regards work permits etc, however you will be able to get an "O" type visa.

Permanent residence in Oz is a 2 step process,

1 obtain a spouse visa

2 after two years she can apply for pemanent residence.

The next thing after that is Citizenship in a further two years.

There are links at the top of this section that wil take you to immigration dept.

Good luck mate

Don't forget to invite the local MP to the wedding. :o It would look good for the "evidence" photos. Even better still if you are in the general area of the minister of Immi invite him/her/it too. :D Even the letter of refusal will look good for the paperwork. :D

Even if you have to have cellebrations in 2 places remember to have a good day.
