Yes and if MRO doesn't back off. Trans will bring his mate Kwasaki into the debate!.

<deleted> Trans, it used to be my job to upset everyone

Go read your original post again, there is no mention of JD Power, you talked surveys, I assumed Thai surveys, hence MY thoughts on such surveys here.

Still in shock about the race card when many problems discussed here are problems dealing with the natives for what ever motoring reason.

TransAm, go read your words above and tell me it doesn't sound like some sort of anti-Thai sentiment.

Again, you are suggesting that a Thai survey is entirely untrustworthy by mere fact that it's Thai. That's racist my friend.

Hehe, whatever - I didn't start posting here until March last year, and it's far less effort to stop posting than it is to continue ;)

If anyone cares to go through my posts, they will see that I have not once asked a question here - I only answer them - there's really nothing in it for me at all other than time out of my working day, heh.

I think I'll just retire and leave it to become the Thai Visa Toyota forum, which is what the two main protagonists here seem to want it to be :D

Yes I am, the same as a Thai driving license is untrustworthy cos most pay for it, and do not pass a test, do you want me to find more stuff. Not anti-Thai it is fact. ;)

For someone who defends everything Mitsu Pajero that IS a bit rich, BUT it makes for some fun eh. :)

Absolutely, becuase the Pajero Sport is the best buy in the PPV segment - if you go through my posts you'll note that I voice my support for the Ford Fiesta in the compact segment, the Toyota Corolla Altis in the middle segment, the Nissan Teana in the large segment, and the Chevrolet Captiva in the softroaders - none of which I own BTW. I simply support the better vehicle in each case, based on it's respective merits.

I loathe cars (and hate driving even more) but can see why they get some excited . . . sort of. But yes, strange conclusion to draw there.

Trans, have you ever seen a Vigo with the commercial dropside body? I mean if you're going to have a pick-up at least have a proper mans pick-up. A 'Ute' as the Aussies say.

Ideally I'd like a tipper dropside (like we had on the old Transit), not just for manure from the farm but I think it would be a quicker way of unloading all the groceries.

As yet no, BUT, l did see a basic Vigo 2 door with no rear fitted and 2 gas tanks newly fitted between the chassis rails, so l assume a dropside will be fitted. :)

Surprisingly rare here and I think that's why Tata are cleaning up, here at least in Issan with their diesel or NGV Xenon dropside with the 3 tonne load limit. Dozens of them now. 459,000 for the single cab diesel model.

I have seen dropside bodies on a D-Max and a Ranger but only a couple of times. Yet I've also seen Vigo's with chassis cabs.

A dropside with a 3 to 6 tonne weight limit should fly off the shelves.

The only thing I did is bring some actual facts into the conversation.......

Hey MRO,

(With no PM and trying to keep everything above board), on behalf of myself and the thousands of other ThaiVisa fans who highly benefit from and respect your postings, we hope you don't let the occasional disagreement between 'those of you in the know' frustrate you.

We read all the opinions and then differentiate the advice to follow - and who is giving the advice. You guys really help the rest of us!

I have owned many different vehicles over the years here in Thailand. Three of which were Toyota pickups. The first one was a great truck. The second one was pretty good but had many rattles. The last one was a true lemon. It was a top of the line 4X4 four door. Some of the troubles were; Air bag warning light, Power window problems, Oil leaks, Radiator blew up, Oil pressure warning light flickering and finally when it couldn't be trusted to start it was time to trade it in. I took quite a beating on the price because I didn't want to sell it privately. I didn't want to take a chance on the buyer taking revenge on me. A brake job and new boots for the front axles cost me over 20,000 baht at the Toyota dealer. The dealer was eventually able to repair everything except the starting problem. It would just click. The alternator and battery were fine and the Toyota dealer could find no other problems. At 90,000 kilometers and four years old, I got 350,000 baht trade in.

My 2004 Nissan Frontier at about 90,000 kilometers has been totally problem free and is probably the best vehicle I have ever owned. My 2007 Ford Focus Ghia has also been problem free other than hitting a dog and smashing all the plastic junk they use in place of a decent bumper. It cost the insurance company 39,000 baht to replace the smashed plastic junk. There will be no more cars for me.

See, this is what I think is happening. Stuff is getting really crap yet sparkely-bling-bling.

Best off getting a 20 year old Hilux Mighty X and having the thing completely rebuilt from the ground up. 100k buys the vehicle, another 100k rebuilds it. Good for another 20 years.
