Part Exchange Old Cars And Buying New.

Featured Replies

So just for a laugh wife and I went to all the dealers, Mazda, Toyota, Honda, Suzuki and Nissan with our 16 year old Isuzu pick-up, you know the one you see everywhere. We bought it second hand 10 years ago for 330,000 Baht and have spent recently to have it repainted , new tyres and made good inside.

So I wanted to get an idea of its value.

Without exception they all offered within 10K Baht of each other should we have gone ahead and bought a brand new car to replace it.

The most impressive of all was Mazda, and I was sorely tempted by the Mazda3 and go into debt for 5 years with a monthly repayment plan.

In the end I did not because what we did was look for second hand cars that were for sale at the price we were being offered for our old pick up.

There was nothing even close in condition, age, mileage or appearance to our car.

We could of walked out of any garage with a new car, it was so easy, but jeeez, I'm glad I didn't.

Having recently spent some time shopping around for a car I would agree with you and yes, many of the main dealerships are owned by the same family.

If you are considering buying a car here don't offer a trade in as they will offer you a price approx.50,000 baht below value.

Better to sell your own privately and shop around for the best price for what you want.
