Like reader polls? I do. So here's an experiment.

List your 10 top favorite places on Samui.

Now I know some of you good folks will want to add GBs, pubs and eateries.

But what I'm really looking for is your list of cool places to visit, photograph and/or just experience.

Having been away from Samui for so long, I just need a little help finding my way back to both hidden and well travelled gems. I have an ulterior motive, but I'll let you in on that one at a later date.

In no particular order, but 'off the beaten track', non-touristy places:

1. Tongson Bay beach (by dirt road off Plai Laem past Coco Development)

2. The 152 year old house, Tong Krut. Great 90+ yr couple, married 46 years. 10 baht admittance.

3. 'The Cave', also Tong Krut/Laem Set. Abandoned 30 yr old buddha/monk's house built in a cave on the beach, still with 'shrine', etc.

4. Beach facing Koh Matlang. North end of Chaweng.

5. Buddha's Magic Garden, mountain top, via road through military base, south Samui.

6. The Samui Museum, in temple corner after Lamai turnoff, before Huan Thanon.

7. Jungle Club, what a view! Between Chaweng Noi & Lamai.

8. Feeding fish at Plai Laem temple (never seen so many fish!?!?)

9. Abandoned spa complex end of Soi next to Pink Lady Chaweng (near LaemDin turnoff). So nicely done to resemble old Thailand. Soon to be demolished.

10. Princess Village hotel, Chaweng. Closed as of Sept. 15 but still great to walk through garden grounds. Will be rebuilt soon, so hurry!

And a close 11th+; mummified monk; buddha footprint; Restored Chedi - Laem Sor; Hua Thanon seafood market; etc., etc.

Too much natural beauty to offer, but slowly but surely being spoilt.

Nice apart from the access road.

I thought a singaporean company owned it?

130m baht suppose some loony will pay it.

Jeez to think the hotel next door changed hands not long ago at a valuation of around 20m

the 3/4 rai beachland opposite Maitlang Island is owned by a friend of mine and up for sale at 130m baht, if anyone is interested...

Now, now. Lets at least try to keep our attention span focused for a moment.

The idea was to get people to post or at least try to post their top ten favorite places on Samui.

Places that some of us haven't even heard of or thought could be of interest. Secret places or at least hidden places – on or off the beaten track.

NIce if we could get a few more lists going...even if you can't make it up to 10...give us what you've got!
