how to save this new string even after switching off FireFox ?

I must say although I have edited the about:config many times I have never actually added a sting, but

It should be easy according to this link,

However there may be an issue in saving strings which this link addresses.

You do not state which version of Firefox you are using, which seems to be the relevant issue
