Hiya all again! :o

I am coming close to the end of my contract with my employer and they cannot offer me a covering letter for future employment as the site closes in winter etc etc etc..

To get to the point, my friend can offer me a letter as he is a site manager stating upon my return he could offer me employment in my trade area etc.

What would have to be included in this letter to give more confirmation and also would the visa section request total confirmation from his company? I want to stay with my fiance in thailand till the baby is born and also to support her, so would I have to return alone and start the job before she can return with me?

Thanks to all who guide me in my challenge!!! :D

The immigration rules say that your fiancée has to show that she can be supported without resorting to certain benefits. This does not mean that you have to be in employment before she arrives in the UK, but that you can satisfy the visa officer you have/will have the ability to take care of her and your child. This could possibly be achieved by proving to the visa officer that you have a job to return to in the UK, although if it is a loose arrangement between friends, beware the visa officer double-checking with the company - unlikely but possible.

Hi Scouse,

I heed the warning, however he is a foreman so he is a hirer and firer. He also tenders lots of contracts, but cannot guarantee work everytime. So would it be better for the letter to state when contracts arise I would be a good candidate for recruitment? Just dont know how he should word it for my benefit! :D

Thanks for your reply scouse

Just basically tell the truth. He can say that, work permitting, he undertakes to employ you, as he knows you as a good brickie/plasterer/electrician (whatever your trade) and that it is extremely unlikely that there will not be a position for you.

Alternatively, wait until nearer the time and get a definite offer of employment off him.

lop,

Just to let you know, I had two letters from friends/clients that stated they will use me as a contractor whenever applicable. This was all I had to show job wise. (I also had overdraft bank statements from myself and brother). That seemed to be enough.

I'm in a trade which jobs are quite plentiful and with a degree in the area and over 7 years experience. This was all added to my cover letter which they certainly read.
