Hi,

I decided to go to the nearest immigration office to obtain my re-entry permit as I prefer not to have the stress at the airport before departure.

I have a UK passport and a Non I 'O' single entry for 90 days

I am staying in the region of Uttaradit 100km North of Phitsanoluk and 350km south of Chiang Mai

The nearest immigration office is in Nan (a 190km trip one way up north)

I prepared ID fotos and copies of my passport (main page, visa page, entry stamp page) before leaving. Called the immigration office in Nan and was told that it was open from 8:30 to 16:30 non-stop also that it was located near Nan airport

Arrived at 12:30. The Immigration Office in Nan is as told located just oppoiste the entrance of Nan airport (outside of the north of the city)

It looks like any other open front shop with parking in front, tables and chairs and at the abck some filing cabinets and further at the back, a semi upper levelled smoked glass closed office.

A few pick-ups with te words 'Immigration' painted on them were parked in front of the office.

Needles to say that it was not crowded, there was a single officer and no 'customers'

Started chating on why I was coming to Nan, etc.

Filled in the form gave one ID foto and 1 copy of my passport (main page, visa page, enry stamp form).

Officer tried to convince me that going fpr a single would be much more economical just in case I did not use it more than 4 times.

Reluctantly accepted my decison for a multiple and my 3.800 baht.

I then proceeded to ask about the possibility to extend my visa on the basis of retirement. More on that in another topic

Cheers

You must travel often as he was providing good advise because the re entry permit is only valid for the time of your current entry stamp - so if you are due to depart on Jan 4 (just got here) that is the date put on permit and if you obtain an extension you will have to obtain a new permit.

Yes I do travel often as I am ony retired in Thailand !

I realize that it might have been slightly cheaper to get 3 single ones but the time it takes to get hem made me decide for a multiple
