What'S The Most Romantic Restaurant In Town ?

Don't order the bruschetta unless u want tomato puree on toast with melted cheese on top. The other stuff we ordered last week was really good. Although the parma ham was extremely salty with the starter, then my main dish with parma ham in it came, and the ham suddenly looked a lot like Bacon. It was a nice meal, but corners are most definitely being cut with ingredients.

try this restaurant in the early evening around 5pm, no sunset but the sky can be quite beautiful as the sun dissappears behind Doi Suthep. nice menu the leg of pork is nice, but cant go wrong, i had valentines day there, always has a band playing in the background, your food comes out very fast, and the staff look after you....its called the 'Palaad Tawanron' something about being by a small lake, i think.

You will need to book and ask for a table looking over the city. i dont think the webpage was working last time i looked, but try it, i will attach a foto with the info on!

enjoy, Kevin

you will need to ask someone how to get there, i think you go up towards Doi Suthep not on the Huay Kaew Road along the uni, but the other road running along side the other side of the uni, cant remember the name of that one sorry!

I think sabaidee santitam is one of the best thai food restaurants i have been to recently and not to expensive not sure about the romantic side of it but the toilets have nice decorations lol .

Nice atmosphere and they have a fish pond .

There is also a good one out near hang dong which has waterfalls in the middle which is good also can't remember the name it's in one of the in between roads( hang dong road and canal road) I know another TV member will remind me of the name.

I always enjoy the Brasserie on the river. Can't beat the view and so far I've been pleased with the food. I even had a good T-bone steak and good beef is normally hard to find in Thailand. The music is great if you go there late and like world class blues played by excellent guitarists.

Thumbs down for Paalad Tawanron as well. Very nice atmosphere but lousy food and service. I've given it 3 times just to be sure I wasn't there on an off day. Food was equally bad each time. One time the wait was 45 minutes for the food (only one other table had customers) and then they forgot one dish for one person in our party. We never could find the waiter again and had to look around to find someone to pay so we could get out of there and get food for one person.

And it's on Ratchapruek Road, on the stretch between Hang Dong Rd and Canal Road. (If you'd continue on that road past the Canal road you'd get to the Royal Flora / Night Safari.)

I would recommend the Porn Ping Hotel.

On the TOP Floor 22nd Floor is the BAT CAVE Resturant.

Open Air... great views of the city and Sunset and Full Moon if the Date is right.

The prices have Doubled in the past year but still not to bad.

Jug of Beer about 129 baht,

Pork and Chicken on Stick about 50 baht.

Has live music starting at 7.30 p.m.

Great place to relax and enjoy the view.

You can find us there every FULL MOON.

Enjoy...

Highly recommend this place. Great surroundings and great food, reasonable prices, big car park, good service.

Try the signature dishes titled "kao mao" and "kao fang" respectively , simply delicious.jap.gif

Truth to say, Med food often means air-con, which puts us inside and "best" ambiance becomes a matter of taste. As seen above, a lot of places that come to mind serve Thai dishes - Nonz, say, north of Raumchok on 1001 isn't bad and there are others more quiet and personal up the river from the Superh'way. Useless in this thread, I guess, it's interesting.

And as usual, we're constrained by trying to find common ground about the dinner itself; what is romantic food? What about the type of music, if any? If I cannot hear my honey, I ain't goin' but others love smashing ears with hip-hop and eating pizza slop. I used to love romantic pizza, but find it wonderfully fatty nowadays - good for sports and beer, but not honey. Tastes vary - certain depend upon opposite number, moods, whims, wind.

Anyway, the place E. of the Night Safari is one I'll have to try!

Su Casa serves Med food, and has just launched a romantic set dinner for two. It is up on their rooftop, completely private for just two persons and is supposed to be for canoodling couples. They are on soi 11 or Google Mi Casa Chiang Mai(their old restaurant)

About Khao Mao Khao Faeng, I have had diner there quite often, because of the atmosphere you pay more for your reasonable Thai food then elsewhere. When you order some appetizers and the main dishes together, you will receive the main dishes first. So, order the appetizers first and when they have served these, order the main dishes. This is common in more Thai restaurants and is something I don't like. What also is weird, in many Thai and here also, restaurants they serve plate after plate and sometimes you have to call for the ordered rice. But you get used to it.

But the OP asked for Mediterranean food, in the heart of the old city, are a lot of them, some serve very delicious food and have a romantic seat.

I agree with the second gripe; rice (when ordered) should show up first, or together with the first dish that's not finger food.

On the first thing, there's not really such a thing as different courses in a Thai meal, stuff just shows up. If you want to force appetizers then indeed you need to order those first, and separately from the rest. I don't mind doing that when it's a longer dinner. And you'll appreciate that for a proper Thai dinner there will be plenty waitresses to help with continued ordering; that's another luxury you don't have in most restaurants in the West, which may have forced the inconvenient habit of forcing you to plan your whole meal several courses ahead! That's something I don't like at all!. :)

Of course when it's not a long dinner I also don't mind (and actually prefer it) when all the stuff just shows up pronto.

Doesn`t have to be anywhere posh or fancy.

It makes no difference which restaurant you are at. It`s who you are with that can make it seem romantic.

I could not care if it`s an open air noodle stall. Just give me a warm breezy night, a clear sky, a full moon, with the right girl and I`ll be very happy.

Would there be any girls out there willing to share the experience with me?

Please; don`t all shout at once.
