Weiner Roast

Featured Replies

I have always thought that Weiner was a pathological liar, but he finally came clean. He is refusing to resign from Congress, but an ethics investigation is expected. Will he will be forced out?

After days of denials, a choked-up Rep. Anthony Weiner confessed Monday that he tweeted a photo of his bulging underpants to a young woman, and he also admitted to online exchanges with several women. He apologized for lying but said he would not resign.

So the Weiner wiener is causing problems?

Edit: and as soon as I posted that all the Google ads came up in German.

UG, I know your question about resigning is rhetorical because we both know that Dems never have to resign for their scnadals probably because the media doesn't go for the jugular as they do with Republicans. From Ted Kennedy's manslaughter of poor MaryJo Kopechne in 1969 to Barney Frank's homosexual-fountain-brothel in the 1980's to Charlie Rangel's recents scandals the Dems stay around. Which of course means that there are more experienced Dem crooks in Gov't than the Republicans.

What do you expect from American politicians? Or British politicians or French politicians or Italian politicians or even Thai politicians?

As e.e.cummings said

a politician is an arse

upon which everything has sat except a man

i strongly resent that you did not mention the politicians of my home country Germany :annoyed: where we have the saying "politicians are not born, they are excreted!"

True some like T Kennedy got away with murder. But that one somewhat famous Dem got booted for showing his wiener to Monica Lewinsky

Can someone explain American political jargon to me, please.

Where UG's post quotes this, "...a choked-up Rep. Anthony Weiner....", what does the "Rep" mean? Representative? Republican?

"Representative", as in a member of the Congressional House of Representatives.

Oh, yeah, that's another one. When it's a Democrat scandal the media usually avoids mentioning the party - as they did with the latest stories about Dem Senator & VP candidate John Edwards. When it's a Republican, they are always sure to mention his party.

Considering your 2 posts in this thread (#3 and the above), is this thread about a percieved imabalance about political reporting?

The OP asked if the lying politician would resign and many examples show that those from his party rarely do because they get more favourable by the press.

ABC showed the offending picture on its news broadcast this afternoon. I must say I wasn't either attracted or offended!
