Ruam Katanyu Kamala rescue volunteers take the man's

body to Patong Hispital for further examination.

PHUKET: -- A 62-year-old Danish man was found dead in a resort garden near his Phuket hotel room this morning.

Lt Col Anek Mongkol, duty officer at Kamala Police Station, told the Phuket Gazette that staff at the Print Kamala Resort discovered the man’s body at about 6:30am and called the police immediately.

“His body was found in gardens beside a walkway that joins bungalows. His right arm had wounds we believe were sustained in a fall,” he said.

However, Lt Col Anek did not speculate what may have caused contusions to the man’s face.

“We have sent his body to Patong Hospital for further examination. We are still waiting for the results,” he said.

Hotel staff told the police that the man booked a hotel room for four nights, although police say his passport shows that he entered Thailand on June 27.

“He was last seen by a hotel security guard at about 1am. He was drinking in front of his room, but the guard paid no attention because he had seen the man spending much of his time drinking,” one police officer told the Gazette.

“We have yet to notify the Danish embassy of the man’s death. We are waiting for the report from the doctor’s examination first,” he added.

The man’s identity is being withheld pending notification of kin.

just hope there is a proper autopsy on this one, and not just brushed under the carpet .....

Don't hold your breath.

It could have been an accident or something, I guess, but contusions to arm and face could mean he was fending off an attack.

It this was yet another attack on a tourist, then chances are slim it will be investigated or a perp being caught.

Poor man.

No name yet, that is surprising. Normally they just put the name in and do not think about the NOK.

RIP

Yet another foreign death this year in phuket!!!!!!!!!! How many more?????

R.I.P. my fellow Dane.

I stayed at Print Kamala Resort a couple of years ago, and it is a quiet family oriented hotel, where heavy drinking would immediately be noticed.

Walking along the narrow street of Kamala Beach should be considered very unsafe 24 hours a day, even when you´re sober, so my guess is, that he could have been hit by a car. Maybe when walking home from one of the lady bars, located next to the junction, where the road to Kamala Beach meets the main road. Maybe just a one kilometer walk, but a narrow road with no sidewalks and with many local cars driving like crazy.

I hope that the BiB will discover the cause of dead very fast and not just assume that it was another suicide.

RIP dude. I also hope Thai investigators will do a uncharacteristically thorough investigation - leaving no stone unturned.

Right arm bruises are more indicative of fending off an attack than in injuries from a fall. Plus, the dectectives could possibly assess whether the wounds to the arm appear to be caused prior to, or at the point of impact on the ground - by assessing the bloodiness of them. If the wounds were caused earlier, and the man died prior to the fall (therefore pushed from above), then there would likely be less blood in the wounds, as the heart would have stopped beating before the fall. I'm a Danish American (naturalized at 8 yrs) so I feel an affinity with Danes.
