When Ink Costs More Than The Printer

Featured Replies

The colour print head of my Canon MP145 has lost red, despite being refilled; I guess that's due to a lack of use. Anyone know how to 'kick' it back in to life, or is a replacement the only answer?

When my Epson haven't been used for 2 month I just clean the nozzles with the Window program and that normal do the trick.

No, I've tried cleaning - normal and deep. The red output just consists of random horizontal lines.

Try soaking the nozzle area in isopropol alcohol for about 30 minutes....that has worked for me before. You can get the alcohol at any Lotus/Big C/drug store/etc. You can either put the nozzle head in some kind of container with a "little bit of alcohol in the bottom (just enough to cover the nozzle jet area...not the whole printer head)" or set the nozzle head area on a paper towel soaked with alcohol. Or, just do both but first let in soak in the container then dab/rub the nozzle head on the soaked paper towel/toilet paper/tissue/etc. Good chance that will work....top it off with running the Clean Heads function in your printer. Good luck...it just may work...it has worked for me before several times over the years.
