A " Brand " a particular identity or image regarded as an asset, e.g. the brand of car is new.

You can say brand secondhand car if you want as in a Toyota brand secondhand car.:D

Yeh, that's part of my question. Dag the Drag, ah well. Ive never heard Thais use it. In fact Ive been asked What "Brand" means by Thais. Portuguese never use it. Is it a Brit/Yank prefix thing. Do you say you I bought it Brand New when you buy new.?.

Yes I would do.

I think it is really used by english speakers to emphasie the absolute newness of an item - IE not second hand, used before in any way, ex- demonstrator car etc.

You could further emphasise it by adding the word "spanking" - as in brand spanking new...Anybody want to google the etymology on that...
