Supermodel search lands in Phuket

Some of the contestants will be visiting Provincial Hall and handing out cloth bags.

PHUKET: -- A bevy of beauties participating in the Look Supermodel Search 2011 beauty pageant will visit Phuket next Monday and Tuesday to take part in various activities.

The 12 models are scheduled to meet Phuket Governor Tri Augkaradacha and hand out cloth bags at Provincial Hall at 11:45am on Monday, before visiting the Phuket Provincial Administration Organization (OrBorJor) offices.

The ladies will be participating in various activities at Jungceylon shopping center in Patong on both days, according to their tentative schedule.

The application requirements on the Look Supermodel Search 2011 Facebook page say that each contestant must: be a Thai national between 16 and 24 years of age; have never been married; have a high school diploma; and be at least 171 centimeters tall.

The information also includes a special note that there will be a bikini stage in the competition.

The next round of the contest will take place in Bangkok on October 8, the winner of which will enter the Supermodel Asian 2011 competition in Tokyo, Japan.

What's that old saying " It's not what you know but who you know"?

You're kidding right? I've a very beautiful friend to whom I've suggested many times she should attempt a modelling career. She always responds she is not 'beautiful' enough. She says her skin 'not right colour'. She's light brown skin, not the usual leuk kreung/Chinese making up the model contingent here. I've advised her to set her sights higher and submit a portfolio to a US/UK/Euro agent.

She puts the above to shame ...
