sounds like you ar

I am keeping out of this other than saying where I live there is no pollution, no traffic jams, the roads are good as there is not much traffic.

KhamPhet is about 45 minutes one way and NakWan about 1 1/2 hours the other way.

On Saturday afternoon I was 15 minutes up the road from my house sitting in a clean fresh (and bloody cold) river with friends and the kids.

Sounds like you live in a very nice place which suits you, good for you and that river sounds good, got a spare Leo?

Yes we look at life and places differently, so each to his own and let us all agree to be happy with that.

I am also sure we are happier here than we were in the country of our birth, another Leo anyone?:)

Don't drink Leo any more as I had a spate of it giving me problem's now it's Tiger. So for me it's another Tiger. My Buddha we don't agree on that either. Oh well cant have everything. But your right on the living situation have just got back from 4 week's in England hated every minute. Got back on the 7th by the 8th I was back to normal. Happy day's.

I totally agree with about the road situation, not all the best and the bridge was ok when it was built but totally inadequate today, you right about the fumes. The fumes are not confined to NS alone they are everywhere. There are many other places I have come across where the volume of traffic is to much for the roads also, it was the same in England. This is Thailand, there are problems that need to be solved and planning that leaves a lot to be desired at times ( BIG C) but what you see as you pass through the busiest places is not where I live and I dont spend my time where the fumes belch ( if only the owners of these bits of transport would keep them in proper running order and serviced bu they dont in many places do they). I can show you many restaurants where you can eat fine food and not have to worry about breathing, we rarely eat in BIG C. To find the advantages of living here you have to live here and I can understandhow you feel trying to drive through. The traffic light sequencing is appualling and could be easily improved but it likely wont be, when I have have to use the bridge or anywhere else to get out of town I pick my time to travel and am never caught up in the endless queues, I live out on the west side by the way, near the by pass, we dont use it often for the reasons you have mentioned, but poor road surfaces are not confined to NS

I did wonder if you were employed by the KPP Tourist Association :D Anti-Nakhon Sawan dept!

Got it in one I did put in some good bit's well one good bit, the flower's ect then it all went pare shaped as my mind strayed to the bridge. Best of luck with the water.

If you are ever flooded I can offer a dry place to stay there will of course be a very large cost involved. The good bit is that as your a Brit you get a 5% discount. There I'm not all bad.

freebob43, welcome home, the 5% discount is better thyan the B of E. Of course you are not all bad, I would think you are 90% + good, we know whats right and whats wrong but we cant do much about it, a Tiger is it? Well when you come down next time PM me and we will meet up and sort the world out!

By the way, you are going to love this the g/f is from KPP she moved here to NS and loves it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:D

Well what can I say the G/L is from KPP A I did say it wasn't perfect. Will be going passed on Wednesday but will be using the bypass. Going to Pattaya yes I know enough said but got to see some friend's that are on holiday there. I had a Tiger large while I was in Blighty £4.50 something, didn't have much choice it was that or an Indian beer, but the curry that went with it was very nice. Will take you up on your offer next time I'm that way. Stay safe.

I think we should count our lucky star's where ever we live up here, the wife's sister arrived last night from BKK I have just received the info on what it's like down there. Water wise we all know it's bad. As she went to the bus station she said the stench of sewage was appalling, rat's snake's all sort's abound. If they don't get their finger out sharpish I think the chance's of an epidemic is on the horizon. Have just seen the Thai TV re flood's and there all swimming in it. Oh and smiling what is the matter with these peep's or maybe they are just going to the loo. Yes that would be it silly me. I have just asked her if her toilet work's as were she live's they are under 50+Cen of water, reply yes well it go's some ware, so that's all right then problem solved. Anyone fancy a dip.

The latest from NS is that Vittethep has got about 1/2 its tiles down, but the fridges are still pretty barren. Kasikorn bank in Kosi Road is now open whilst the refit continues. A few more shops open, lots of refitting going on and the place is generally getting a bit busier. Kosi Road Market was again well under way but the whole area is not the usual bustling scenees we are used too, will be interesting to see how long it takes.

Freebob 43 drive carefully, I have reports that Pattaya is full of Bangkok cars! £4.50 for a Tiger! I would have passed on that one. UK is best for real ale.

Thanks for the info on Bangkok too, they are experiencing what we have, if only they had released a little water at a time to the sea we might have all faired better.

Thank's for that. What could I have done they only had two beer's one a tiger one an Indian now the comp has changed tex oh well. But the rest of the time it was draft bitter, If I could get it Hob Gobbling.

I said to the good lady some week before I left, Buddha now tex gone back to normal, That they have lowered the water in the ping why don't they let a bit more through otherwise the dam's will fill up then there's going to be a big problem. Well for nearly 12 day's it trickled through then they let bundle's go all at once, and bingo what a surprise lot's more water hit down stream with a tidal wave. I don't know if I should put in TV what I think of the plonker's maybe just leave that bit be. Hope everything turn's out well for all in N/S. The Tourist Association of KPP.

I think Nakhon Sawan has applied to be twinned with KPP :D

Hostilities ceased on 13th November over a pint of the very excellent Hobgoblin ale (not only a fine dark strong ale but a very good anti-oxident source!) when all parties fell over!

Thanks for your thoughts but selling and buying property in Thailand is not that is easy so I guess we are stuck here! Luckily where we live in NS Tok we had no flooding within a mile and we can both swim big time, taught her that free when we met, free!

Been up into the metropolis this morning, a lot more rubbish has been cleared, things slowly returning to normal.

Fairyland has been completely retiled but Tesco is still closed they have some small posters which says "your new store is coming soon." A quick look round the barrier showed no fixtures and fittings, look at least a week away from openeing so maybe the 25th was right. Over at Vitteethep they have no tiles on the floor at all but do have a thank you sale on! The fridges have a little stock in now.

The market at the end of Kosi Road was 80% open today but footfall not like as usual. Went to the market at the other end of town on the road to Krok Phra and it was noticeable that prices had gone up dramatically.

We will open, well Nong will open, for sales in Sawanvittee 9 tomorrow, so if you want some pineapple we would be glad to see you, although I will probably have gone back to bed!

Last thing the 2 7-11 near the market one in Sawanvittee and the one in Kosi Road near Kasikorn/Ayudyha are both closed and dont look like they open soon.

Metropolis so that's what you call the smoke, traffic, diesel fumed, and now flooded ridden place, well I never. One learn's something new every day.

Yep forgot about the selling bit who the hell want's to buy anything in N/S. Now in KPP if you put anything it up for sale it's gone in a trice, and at top price.

Bill if you want to know were to get any tablet's ect in KPP just ask. And by the way what's the road between the to got to do with it. If you want dodgy road's just try the bypass at N/S it was crap before the water got at it.

Now Bill you should know about the shop closures during the flood's in KPP now let me see ALL the bank's shop's post office's 7/11 were all open. Ya Ya I know some were closed on Sunday's forgot about that.

Then there's the immigration as we only have to go once a year thank Buddha there's no problem good job we didn't have to go in the last week or two as we would have been in the sh/t big time.

And how many shop's do you want Big/C Tesco's Makro's two post office's +++ there all in KPP. Oh and open. And the price's still the same, IE no increase. I must point out I was in N/S on the 7th and you should have seen it plastic bag's rubbish crap of all sort's, if anyone try's to tell me it's a nice place to be within 20 mile's of I'll will laugh, the pit's is a word that fit's the bill more appropriately. Sorry if I offend anyone but I speak as I find.

I don't know if anyone knows but KPP has won the cleanest city in Thailand award 8 time's in 15 year's. Just a bit of trivia.

I just sent you a PM about meds.

What Ho, Bill.

Sorry didn't get PM, off this morning to Pat's/BKK If it's about Chemist where to get med's, you might have to order but they are spot on. Sorry don't know the name of the soi but if you go from the T/Light's with Big/C on your right turn left at second set of T/L 50mt down on the left just past the small clock tower/market the chemist on the corner they speak a bit of English, but if you take your bit's in with you I'm sure that they'll be able to sort you out. You've got my Phone No: so if you have a problem give me a tinkle. At the same time we can discus the twinning issue with N/S but I think that might be a non starter. All be it that our chum there is a Brit and know's his ale's. With all the T/L mentioned KPP is starting to sound like N/S.

Will be off line for about a week.

I covered more than 20kms on the bike today on the smaller roads in the north west corner of the where the by pass 122 meets the route 1. The roads stands out like causeways with the edges falling away, lots of holes and plenty of grit from the bags which tried to keep the water back still strewn across the road, not a comfortable passage for me! There is still a lot of water left in these fields. The major roads (?) seem to be operating more like they uesed to albeit with a more damaged surface than normal.

The town is slowly getting back to normal although the riverside market is still mainly in Atakavee road and surrounding streets, signs that the bags onlong the riverside are starting to disappear. There is less dust in town now ( unlike the country roads).

Vittethep had a much better stock in the fridges yesterday and more tiles being laid.

I will go to Fairyland before the end of the week and see if Tesco have opened.

One last thing, it seems that the road from Nakhon Sawan to Krock Phra which crosses the Route 1 at Big C is often not open in the westerly direction so traffic directed along the beloved U TURN this U TURN is in desperately poor condition take care your suspension will not like it!

Posted

I just returned from a ride down the 122 Nakhon Sawan by pass from Sawanvittee 64 to 3005 junction, just as you approach the 3005 junction from the north the road is broken up into waves of tarmac. If anyone is using this road take great care, hitting this part at speed would likely mean you losing control of the vehicle. 3005 is ok but the edge of the road stands up to 5' up from the ground in places near the cement works, if you go over you are not coming back without the help of a crane.

Afternoon Fred

No problem.

It is the same guy that I normally use for some meds but he really didn't want to order anything for me for some reason so I let it go.

I will probably take a wander down to Nakwan next week as I am starting to go a bit stir crazy again.

My wife's niece is up from BKK for a while, 19 and blossoming beautifully but she brought her boyfriend too.

dam_n there goes my plot to get her to be my gik when I am out on the bike. She wants to try to ride my Phantom too.

I fear that I may have to change my drinks from Sang Som Thai rum to Stroh 80 just calm my nerves.

I told you about that place as he had ordered bit's for me before, sorry about that.

You'll like this, I think that someone has been sticking pin's in effigy's of me, might stop if I didn't run down N/S so much who know's.

Yesterday I returned from my trip from BKK/Pattaya. Picture this there I was all prepared to go on the Bypass at N/S only to find it closed. EEEEEK. But I think I beat the record of getting through there you won't believe this but it only took me 39 Min: to get from one end of the Bypass to the other going through N/S a miracle. Even managed to see the clock tower through the haze, by the way that's buggered change's in fit's and start's only to tell the time fifteen Min: slow. But I digress, and the road's are just as I remembered them before the water in a word crap, so no change there. The usual foggy Diesel cloud still omit's every ware, doesn't clear till your a few km out. I have found out why the road's are so bad each side of N/S it's because of all the peep's trying to make a quick getaway/escape from the place. If you are going on your bike take it slow.

To all of you nice peep's that live there it's all tongue in cheek so if you wouldn't mind taking the pin's out now I would be most grateful.

I think Bill might be coming in the next few day's as he need's to get some tablet's, You might not get a PM from him as I know he is having electric work done nearby and they keep cutting his electric off. I wont be down for a few week's as I have just done a crap journey nearly 9 hour's from Pattaya. And will need several week's to get over it. But I might feel better when the pin's come out at first haze. Thank's for the offer I will remember when I'm next that way. You are also very welcome to have a pint if you ever come to the town of happiness.

For 3 or 4 days a week now the power goes off from about 9 am until perhaps 4 pm as the PEA are running new 3 phase cabling over the existing 2 phase so they have to shut the power off.

It was very hot last Thursday and the guys were working flat out in the sun, so being the nice guy that I am I bought 2 big blocks of ice for their coolbox and a case of Chang beer for when they finished for the day.

I always get waved at and saluted now but they do a good job and deserved the beer.

Maybe I will do the same tomorrow.

I will try to get down to NakWan one day next week but I want to look for a motorbike shop in Kao Liao so I won't be going down the route 1 but crossing the river and using the back roads.

I see that Fredob has made it to the national papers too.

By the way Bill I have been working flat out lately so any chance of a beer??? Tiger please. No need to chill it that will save you a few BT.

Been into the haven known as Fairyland today, popped my head round the barriers to see the progress on "your new Tesco" progress is a word someone does not understand, there seems to have been very little over the last couple of weeks and it is not opening in the near future although I am sure they will be open in time for the Christmas rush, whenever that may be, will keep you posted.

Had to take the G/L to the dentist today and they had a Christmas tree with all the goodies in there first one I've seen this year. Had a quick look and not a thing for me, Oh well. It's those bloody pin's again.

So it look's like you'll have to wait a few week's for Tesco's to open then BigC will have to bring their price's down. Not having a go but did you know that it was one of the most expensive BigC I've ever been in.

By the way is it a big Tesco's. And where about's is it say in relation to the clock tower BigC.

Its in Fairyland, turn left at the clock tower and go through the next 2 sets of lights, then most of the buses turn right at the Government savings bank ( is that ajoke?) but you go straight on, Fairyland is on the the next T junction ( Left hand side ) the car park is just before the junction, if you miss it turn left and about 100 yds down on the right is another car park. Like I said its not like what you have been used too I reckon 20,000 sq feet tops.

And where abouts is it say in relation to the clock tower BigC.

If you turn left at the clock tower opposite Big C and keep on that road for maybe 1 km it is on the left after you have entered the one way system. It is not too easy to see at ground level but if you look up and to the left you will see the Tesco sign. The entrance to the car park is just before Fairyland (Tesco is on the ground floor) and if you miss it you need to take the first available right turn, go over a couple of streets, back up towards Big C, turn right and right again to back down the one wat system.

It used to be quite a big place too.

Heard there was dragon boat racing on the river yesterday but not sure if it was just west of the main bridge on the BKK road or further towards Krok Phra west of the 122 by pass.

DRagon Boat racing on the river today, the start line is the bridge on the route 1 to Bangkok and then heading west, last year there was a fair and all the usual side shows, dont know about it this year, only saw and heard from the back of a baht bus, the attractions would have been about 1 1/2 km west of the start line.

What Ho, how's the Ping/river what ever it's called down there. I ask because the ping up here is only a trickle more like a sand bank has been for the last week or so. If it carries on like this might trade the car in for a Dune Buggy. T T A K.P.Phet.

Well I don't know where it's coming from the water and brown that is, as it's not from here. Water even less today and clear as a bell. There's an island in the Ping at K.P.Phet fare size normally now it's almost the size of the Isle of white, bit of an exaggeration but what do you expect from the T T A Of K.P.Phet.

What a bummer about the bucket and spade bit. Took them to Pattaya and couldn't use them there either, but that was because the beach there is crap well what's left of it. Hope thing's are improving there. Fred.
