Health Insurance

Featured Replies

A friend recently had a serious accident that required surgery in a local private hospital. He had no insurance and no money. After having talked with many people I find very few who have health insurance in Thailand. They wish to depend on the government hospital and being able to pay what ever they ask. As for as I know, no where in the world can you buy useful health insurance past the age of 65. Once you reach the age of 76 the cost of private insurance goes out of sight and they cut the coverage down tonext to nothing. Does anyone over 65 have private health insurance that can be used in Thailand? Has anyone over the age of 65 been able to buy health insurance and if so from whom and what is the coverage like.

I used 12 month "business" travel insurance for a while Don, it was about $400-500 a year.

I never made a claim though so can't comment on that aspect. If you google the relevant search terms you will see a number of international companies offer it. (I'm not 65 either).

Nice to speak to you on the Air Asia/Bangkok flight last week.

that why to avoid uncertainties i always prefer to have travel insurance.you should also have life is very precious buddy.and yes please select some trust able company

Hi, my health insurance is with a top Thai insurer. It's a product that combines health insurance and life assurance (ie capital and investment returns at the end of the term). It's fully international and provides emergency flyback to Thailand. I've spent most of my working life in banking and insurance in over 10 countries and I haven't seen a product quite like this before. I'm in my 50s, but I believe they provide health insurance to anyone under 90 (ninety). Just PM me if you want more info.

Don't be shy, name the company here.

[Please give us the name and contact information for this company that will provide health insurance for up to 90 years old. It won't be a problem for Thai Visa.

thanks

The company is Thai Life.

They provide health insurance up to 90 yrs of age, but you must be under 75 when you take out the insurance.

I attended a Thai Life customer lunch earlier this week, and discovered that the 65/90 limit relates to the product that I've subscribed to. Other products can be opened after 65 years of age and provide cover to over 90 years of age.
