Bringing Bike To Thailand

Featured Replies

I have a Ducati, purchased in Singapore and would like to bring it to BKK when I move next year. Intend to ride only at weekends rather than commute.

Question is, can I import the bike into Thailand? Will it need to be registered in Thailand after a period of time, and how easy is it to do this?

Also, I would only bring it if I can find an authorised Ducati dealer.

Any advice?

Do a search, there are posts on it, they were for cars and sounded a nightmare. I would think the same rules and regs apply for bikes as well.

How long are you staying in Thailand and what kind of Visa will you have? I think there are some exceptions for vehicles that come over the border but are not going to be imported. I will dig around for the information and post later.

It is very difficult to get a straight answer out of BKK csutoms but I was eventually quoted 150% import duty on my Yam Fazer which kind of knocked that idea out of my head. Cheaper to buy when your here.

Quite a good list of the Bikeshops in BKK.
