My Pumps Like R2D2 On Speed

Featured Replies

hi guys,

Recently bought a pump for hosing lawn and plants.

Connected everything up, switched it on but didnt turn on tap. pump starts whining like its pumping water even though it isnt.

I checked for airlocks and leaks in the pipes and nothing. It pumps fine but when its idle it keeps trying to pump at 1 second intervals.

eventually had to just switch of electric at switch.

anyone have the same problem? am i doing something wrong ? I have checked everything and their doesnt appear to be any leaks in the pipe.

advice please.

if it's not a self priming pump, you'll have to prime it manually. There should be a large bolt or screw at the top where you pour the water in to fill the pump up so it does not suck air on start up. If all else fails, read the directions.

This may be better in DIY so I'll move it there.

Meantime:-

Where are you pumping from (tank, lake, mains)?

Does the pump have a pressure tank?

If the tap is open does it pump properly?

"I don't want to know why you can't. I want to know how you can!"

yeap agree....read the instructions first...if you keep doing this you could knacker the pump.
