Mri Scan Needed

Featured Replies

I have been advised to have an MRI scan of my brain by a U.K doctor.

Any recomendations for hospitals in Thailand (prefererably Bangkok) carrying this out, recent costs etc would be very much appreciated.

Thanks

If you only need the MRI probably the cheapest place of good quality is Prachacheun Imaging 02-953 9469, www.mrithailand.com. One of their staff speaks English.

If you need medical advice - not only the imaging - places like Bangkok Hospital 02-310 3000 are recommended, prices about double the price of Prachacheun.

You can do the MRI at Prachachuen and bring it to a place like Bangkok Hospital for further advice, no problem.

For a fairly quick appointment you can try Thonburi Hospital. My wife has used their MRI four times in the last 6 months.

Just a phone call to the hospital, put through to the MRI room and booked for the following day. In one case they said she could come in 2 hours.

Would be best to have your booking done by someone who speaks Thai.

The detailed result you are given are in English.

There are several types of " brain scans" My wife was charged 11,000 baht for hers, which is only 500 baht more expensive that Siriraj Government Hospital. Siriraj's waiting list is now out to March/ April next year.

Pay to check that the flooding has not effected the Thonburi Hospital.

I think it has affected that area, from what I read in the TV "Where is it flooding" thread....

Have been told this evening the Thonburi Hospital is OK , but getting there could be the problem

Phone first. 0-2866-4100

Thanks for all the replies. I have opted for Bangkok hospital near Sukumvit as it isn't affected by the floods (yet).

Got a quote of 15,500 Baht for scan and consultation.

Thanks again

Go NOW. The water is coming and in a day or two you may not be able to. But call first to make sure you can get it done, as some hospitals are only providing emergency care, even those that are not (yet) flooded...problem being that many of their staff live in flooded areas and can't come to work.
