BMTA to cease services of 1,118 minibuses

BANGKOK: -- The Bangkok Mass Transit Authority would cease the services of 1,118 minibus operators from May next year, its acting director said Wednesday.

BMTA acting director Opat Petchmunee said most of the minibuses problems in service quality and the buses have not passed a regular official inspection.

He said the minibuses operators wanted to continue their services, they would have to group together as a cooperative and invest for an improvement in their bus engines or use NGV-fuelled vehicles instead.

Finally!!!

Im sick of arms waving out of windows to warn me that they are about to wipe me out as they pull over from the 3rd lane to stop abrupt;y in the 2nd lane to let passengers alight. Meanwhile these passengers dice with death as they run across the 1st traffic lane.

They are an amusing form of transport really!
