Fed Up With 'crackdowns'

Featured Replies

OK, evidently the Thai goverment have an old and unreliable Thesaurus.

We need some new synonyms for 'crackdown'.

I'll start with 'purge'

Anyone??

"I don't want to know why you can't. I want to know how you can!"

"Purge" implies getting rid of the issue completely, whereas "crackdown" suggests that whilst the issue will be addressed, there may be some residual doo-doo that doesn't get cleaned up... :o

How about "clamp-down"?

Taoism: shit happens

Buddhism: if shit happens, it isn't really shit

Islam: if shit happens, it is the will of Allah

Catholicism: if shit happens, you deserve it

Judaism: why does this shit always happen to us?

Atheism: I don't believe this shit

My Thesaurus only gives 'clamp down' as a true synonym, maybe we should be looking for "pseudo synonyms" :o

It's definitively time for a crackdown on crackdowns.

I thought a "crackdown" was the term used when a lady lost her balance :o
