Fed Up With 'crackdowns'

OK, evidently the Thai goverment have an old and unreliable Thesaurus.

We need some new synonyms for 'crackdown'.

I'll start with 'purge'

"Purge" implies getting rid of the issue completely, whereas "crackdown" suggests that whilst the issue will be addressed, there may be some residual doo-doo that doesn't get cleaned up...

How about "clamp-down"?
