31-Year-Old Motorcyclist Killed After Crashing Into Highway Department Contractor’s Truck
Picture from responders. A 31-year-old man was killed in a collision after his motorcycle crashed into the back of a contractor’s pickup truck parked for highway sign installation in Nonthaburi. The crash occurred at around 23:00 on 12 March on the outbound lane of Rama IV Bridge in Bang Tanai, Pak Kret District. Local police from Chaiyapruek Police Station, along with emergency responders from the Ruamkatanyu Foundation and forensic experts, were called to the scene. At the scene, officers discovered the body of Wutthichart 31, lying next to his severely damaged brown Honda Forza motorbike (registration from Bangkok) in the left lane. The other vehicle involved was a blue Ford pickup truck (registration from Lopburi), which had sustained rear-end damage. The truck belonged to a contractor working on behalf of the Department of Highways to install road signs. Panyakit Srisuwan, 53, the head of the construction crew, stated that his team had been working on the bridge for about three hours prior to the accident. Roadworks were in progress in the right lane, with crew members directing traffic and orange traffic cones placed to alert approaching vehicles. According to a witness, the motorcyclist had attempted to overtake a lorry in the middle lane at high speed. In doing so, he lost control and veered into the construction zone, crashing into the parked pickup truck, which had its hazard lights flashing. Dashcam footage from a bystander’s vehicle showed that the contractor’s pickup truck was parked in the right lane with flashing lights on its roof. However, there were no warning cones placed behind the vehicle, only two cones were positioned in front of it. Police have documented the scene and interviewed the construction crew leader. Further investigations will include reviewing CCTV footage and gathering additional witness statements. The deceased’s body has been transferred to the Institute of Forensic Medicine for an autopsy. -- 2025-03-14 -

Laotian Woman Fatally Shot in Karaoke Bar; Police Hunt for Suspect
UPDATE Jealous Lover Arrested for Fatal Karaoke Bar Shooting in Phatthalung Picture from responders. A 63-year-old man who fatally shot a 40-year-old Lao woman at a karaoke bar in Phatthalung has been arrested in Phetchaburi following a dramatic police chase. The suspect, identified as Mr. Tawee, 63, allegedly shot and killed Ms. Poo, 40, inside Tong 4 Karaoke on Phetkasem Road, Khao Chaison district, Phatthalung, at around 21:00 on March 11. Police believe the attack was motivated by jealousy. According to police reports, Mr. Tawee, a regular customer at the karaoke bar, entered the premises and demanded to see Ms. Poo, who had locked herself inside a private room. When she refused to open the door, he forced his way in and opened fire, hitting her four times in the head and torso with a 9mm pistol. She died at the scene. Investigators found three spent bullet casings and one unused 9mm round near the doorway. Witnesses reported that Mr. Tawee had been seen arguing with the victim in the past, and their relationship had become increasingly volatile in recent weeks. Following the shooting, Mr. Tawee fled the scene in a silver Toyota single-cab pickup truck with Phatthalung licence plates. On March 13, officers from Phetchaburi Highway Police Station 2, under the Highway Police Division, intercepted his vehicle on Phetkasem Road, Ban Mo subdistrict, Mueang Phetchaburi district. Police stopped the truck and found Mr. Tawee alone in the driver’s seat. A search of the vehicle revealed only a set of clothes inside the cabin, while a black jacket, mat, and pillow were found in the truck bed. However, the firearm used in the murder was not recovered. Mr. Tawee was taken into custody and transferred to Highway Police Station 2 in Phetchaburi for initial questioning. Authorities have alerted Phatthalung police, who will now take over the investigation and proceed with legal action -- 2025-03-14 -
