Plants. Anyone Know Anything?

Featured Replies

I have several plants in our garden that are going yellow and drying out and drooping. I do put fertilizer on them weekly and water them daily. I wonder if I am doing either of these too often or if it is pollution that is killing them?

What kind of plants? :D

Where is your garden? -Rural Mae Hong Son, middle of Bangkok, next to a chemical factory in Samut Prakan? :o

It could just be the time of year. Several of the plants in our garden are doing the same thing. It has been quite cool lately (even in Korat) and some plants seem to react by slipping into dormancy and/or shedding a few leaves.

If you want to check to see if the plant is still alive, check the tips where growth occurs or scratch the trunk (of a tree or shrub) to see if there's still green under the bark.

Sorry. Samut Prakan/Bangna area. Flat that is in the sun for most of the day. Plants are really shrubs I suppose and one large(ish) travellers palm.

You don't need to fertilize weekly, you are overtaxing your plants and the salts in the fertilizer build up in the soil. Best to use compost and composted manure.
