A while back here I read about CAT Internet offering a 3G 'Unlimited' package SIM for 14days and I think people were saying it was quite good and it really was pure unlimted 3G data allowance?

Please can anyone using this package advise if this package is available and where to buy it from please?

Thanks in advance for any help! jap.gif

I think one or more of TOT's MVNOs has/had some unlimited 3G packages, on 2100 Mhz...

CAT, on 850 Mhz, launched their "My" 3G services a few weeks ago, they have a "Click" package: 4 GB, 590 baht, 384 Kbps over 4 GB.

Thanks for the links lomatopo wai.gif TOT seems interesting, I wasn't aware of their packages, thanks for your help! Much appreciated

I believe that CAT offer refers to their old, now nearly obsolete, soon to be turned off CDMA network, in which Hutch was somehow involved. CAT is out of that bag and into real 3G with TrueMove H, and their My brand now.

Hey thanks for your insight lomatopo, I have found a place online which sells the NetSim for 69B 14 days unlimited 3G for 399b so I may try this out, I will look into the TrueMove H service also, do you know if this is an Unlimited uncapped 3g service? I will check it out thanks again for your help cowboy.gif

BE aware that the cdma netsim does not work with conventional 3g phones

Thanks, in re-reading my posts I see I didn't do a very good job highlighting the differences in this older CAT/Hutch CDMA2000 1x EV-DO technology which is NOT standard 3G, and requires special CDMA handsets and/or air-cards.

Unless the OP has, or plans to buy, a CDMA2000-capable device then this service should be avoided.

The OP should probably tell us:

what type of equipment, exact phone or air-card model numbers, they have.

do you have voice and text requirements.

where they spend most of their time, just to see which provider might have 3G coverage.

what their budget is, and what level of service they require.

TOT does seem to have expanded their coverage quite a bit. http://www.i-bkk.com/ilocation/viewer/

CAT/TrueMove H have even more coverage, and both offer FAIR-USE uncapped plans, these drop back to 384 Kbps once the threshold is exceeded.

Here is a link to the TrueMove H Prepay plans, note they have plans up to 10 GB. http://www.truemove-h.com/prepay/prepay-topping.aspx

Provided the device supports 3G 850 Mhz then TrueMove H may be the best option.

I have a ZTE MiFi MF30 3G Modem + Wireless Router which is currently using DTAC 3G but I would like to have an unlimited package such as the CAT NetSim typoe of thing. I checked on the ZTE box and manual and it doesnt mention anything about CDMA capabilities? Its all a bit confusing to be honest! I am in Ban Phe, Rayong.

If your device currently works with DTAC 3G then, by default, it supports 850 Mhz 3G and would work with TrueMove H and/or CAT's NEW My network. So go for one of the new CAT MY offerings, understanding that they are NOT unlimited per se, rather they drop the speed down to 384 Kbps once you exceed the 4 GB threshold. DTAC's new packaging/pricing is somewhat similar, at all levels, as is TrueMove H's, on 2 GB and higher packages.

Bottom line: your device should support any 850 Mhz 3G network: TrueMove H, CAT My, DTAC/Happy.

When Hutch came up for sale, I was sure that CAT would be the buyer. Instead True bought it. This tells me that CAT has totally lost interest in CDMA. Adding the central part of Thailand from Hutch would have given them coverage of the entire country rather than just the north and south.

Anyone have any comments why True bought Hutch and what they will do with the CDMA network? At this point, my area of Loei province has no 3G service. I do have CAT CDMA coverage and use it. It was rumored that True would have 3G service in my area but up until now they don't even have 2G phone service.

^ There have been quite a few threads on the transition from CAT - Hutch CDMA to TrueMove H/CAT My.

As simply put as this complex relationship can be presented, CAT is building a national 3G network on 850 Mhz. They are replacing any CDMA facilities with 3G. The CDMA network will be totally replaced. They have a goal of ~ 5,300 base-stations this year and are ahead of schedule. CAT is a wholesaler, they sell to TrueMove H who retail to customers. CAT is also retailing the service under their My Net brand. If you have CAT or Hutch CDMA now you will be able to get TrueMove H or CAT My Net at some point in the near future.

The only snippet I can add is that recently I had a problem with my CAT CDMA USB modem , and took it to the local CAT office to ask the engineers to see what they thought about my modem problem , while I was in the CAT office I asked about signing up for a CAT 3G Unlimited package ( my Click 590 Unlimited ) , I asked if I could suspend my current CDMA package , while I tried the CAT 3G unlimited package, the answer was yes , I could suspend my CDMA package for a two month period and after two months was up , I had to go back to the CAT office and let them know if I wanted to re start my CDMA package , if I told them I was still not sure about terminating my CDMA package I could then once more continue the CDMA suspension for a further two months , up to a maximum of 3 two month suspension requests .

My modem was found to be faulty , so I glanced across to the glass display cabinet and saw a VW140 CDMA USB modem for sale , so I asked as my current MC727 modem was faulty ( over 5 years use ) Can I buy that VW140 modem , the answer was NO . I then replied well if I'm a long term CAT CDMA customer with a current active CDMA package , why can't I just buy a new USB CDMA modem, the answer was that to buy the VW140 modem I would have to start a new CDMA unlimited contract , and CAT are no longer accepting any new CDMA customers as the CDMA service will be terminated at the end of this year .

So I came away with my faulty CDMA modem in my pocket and a new CAT 3G unlimited package . So far I'm very happy with the CAT 3G results ( apart from a disconnecting problem which is being currently investigated by CAT ) .

I will be returning to the CAT office and saying good bye to my CAT CDMA package after years of a thrilling roller coaster ride .clap2.gif
