What does a foreign male need to do to obtain the thailand citizenship?

Can you help me to point all paths to realize that (marriage, house owning, working, ...) and the cheapest and easiest one?

Does Thailand permit to stay without a visa to people from other countries, like Cambogia, Laos, ... ? if yes, is it easier to obtain this other citizenship?

Thanks to all posts in advance. :o

Wrong forum.

Also try doing a search from the bottom of the visa forum--there are quite a few posts about it already. Also, if you check the Thaivisa.com website (not the forum) you will find quite a bit of info as well.

Yeah, do a search, it has been discussed and there are a few members on here who have or are about to do it.

If i remember rightly, one of the criteria is the Thai language. I think i remember someone saying the interview is done in Thai and you have to be able to hold a decent conversation. Not sure about Written though.

"To acquire Thai nationality:

Aliens who wish to apply for Thai nationality under the Nationality Act B.E. 2508 (A.D. 1965) a person does NOT need to be 40 years or have spent 10 years in Thailand.

They must be of the age of majority, be of good character, be gainfully employed, have continuously lived in Thailand for not less than FIVE years and have knowledge of the Thai language. (Section 10)

It's an advantage to be married to a Thai citizen and having children born in Thailand or having studied in a local university/college as an undergraduate.

The applicant must complete an application form and submit various required documents to the Criminal Investigation Division Group I, Subdivision 3, Police Department, Rama I Road, Bangkok.

The official fee is Baht 5,000. The processing takes 2 to 3 years."

5000 baht,  surely thats not right.

I thought it was 100,000 baht

Believe you are thinking of the PR requirement (second step after 3 years of extended stays and which I believe is almost double that cost if not married to a Thai).

Believe poster is looking for a fast and easy citizenship and he is not likely to find that in Thailand.

:o Yeah you are over the hill mate!!! :D I think you might want to learn a little bit more about Thailand.....Your suggestion that Lao and Cambodian nationals do not need visas, shows your lack of knowledge...First live here for a while, learn the language, establish yourself, absorb the culture and see if you like it...Apply for non immigrant visa, try to get employed, get a little family started...Then go after minimum 5 years to apply for citizenship. I just have one question for you, what are the advantages of you becoming a Thai citizen?

The only most common reason for people from advanced countries who want to apply for Thai citizen is for the financial reasons, such as want the right to own land, to own factories, to make real estate developement ect.

It seems like lot of Hong Kong, Singapore, Chinese and other southeast Asia businessmen who conduct business in Thailand involving real estate developement, factory, construction ect have Thai citizen or in process of getting one to facilitate the land ownership.

There maybe lots of procedures to obtain citizen, but I think it all come down to who you know, and your connections. Even a person meet all the requirements, he may take forever to apply but the other one with connections and big business ventures will get it without meeting any requirments and without any effort. I once played golf with Hong Kong man who has many factories and real estate construction and developments in Songkla and Naratiwat provinces, he can barely speak a few words of Thai and only have been here in Thailand 3 years.

But he has Thai citizen already and travels to Thailand with his Thai passport and also has Thai ID card issued from Songkla. I once asked him why he needs the Thai citizen, and he said the same thing he needs to own and run his real estate, construction, and factories in Thailand. How he got it so easy? He told me in Thailand, "you do some good to others and others do some good to you, mutual mutual"as he said in exact words.

Thailand and Laos concluded a bilateral agreement late last year for a mutual 30 day visa free period of stay for tourism purposes.
