Just had similar but without the running machine part.

Blood test

Urine test

Cardiogram

Chest X-ray

Ultra sound of abdomen.

Physical exam .

2000 baht.

Seems cheap where did you go??? The running tread mill bit I had to have was a real pain, had to have my chest shaved couldn't stick the electrodes on, some 20 of the buggers. But at least I got the full treatment. With pages of data coming off the printer thing.

The first bit at walking pace was easy, by the time it had finished at a fast run for what seemed like hours I was a dribbling mess. Not quiet but one has to put it on. Sympathy from the wife was wanted.

To be honest I dont think I could actually do that stress test !! Think I would keel over before the sprint...lol

I had mine done at Meungphet private hospital in Phetchabun. He's my local Doctor so to speak. Village woman (nurse/practitioner) takes care of minor things, we go to him for anything else and general healthcare.

Now that you have proved how healthy you are you should expect a brand new push lawn mower for you birthday and  regular delivery of Viagra from the pharmacy!

Six years ago my hip transplant at the private hospital, Rattanavej, across the street from the big Government hospital cost me a total of about 2100USD all inclusive with a ten day stay.  In the US you most likely wouldn't get past the receptionist at the doctors office for that unless you were also covered by good insurance.  The hospital has since been sold and is now Pakmampo 2.

Your not a bad judge on the stress test, takes around 30/40Min: but seems like hours. Pitso is a big enough pain to get to from K.P.Phet. 1h 20min. Phetchabun is well over 3.5 hours. looks like I will still use them it's only monies anyway. But thank you for your reply.

Don't need a lawn mower as the G/L does all the garden work. It's part of woman's work so she says. My job is water and electric she cant do water and is petrified of electric.

Viagra must admit do need that with G/L but not anywhere else thank Buddha.

Off to BKK to organise new passport on the 8th Aug: interview on the 9th return 10. Any suggestion's on what to do for a couple of nights wouldn't go amiss.

No suggestions from me.  When I make my yearly trip to the US Embassy in October to get my income affidavit, I leave home at about 0400 and get to the parking lot above the Foodland on Soi 5 at around 0630. I shop for an hour  and then drive and park at the All seasons/Conrad Hotel complex and walk to the US Embassy and arrive at 0730.  As soon as I get the letter ir's back out, get a subway sandwich  near Tops Market in the All Seasons to get my parking ticket stamped and back out and on the way home by 1030.  I miss traffic both ways.  I usually then drive straight to NS and do my extension stopping at Makro on the way out and then home to pass out .. It's a long day, but only once a year and get Bangkok and NS done all in one day.

I haven't been to my house in Bang Bua Thong since early 2012 when I fixed it up after the flood!

..........Dateline Nakhon Sawan..........{irregular commentary on things NS}..........The Malibu, a long established nightspot near the Dragon statue has closed it's doors presumably for good. Bit of a shock as it seemed to be part of the fabric of the place. Also gone is a more recent establishment, the Fine Foods emporium on Dawadeong by the Thai Hotel. Definitely permanently but not sure why. Another long-termer "V Steak" is now closed.

On the plus side there is a new place near Analog "room 69", and on the next corner to Analog a new music bar being built. That Soi is becoming quite a nightlife hub.

A couple more new hotels are being built (where the hell do all the extra people come from and why?} and an existing one The Leelawadee closed and up for sale.

Sounds to H/M that N/Smog  is going to the Dogs. Bars Hotels closing on a regular basis Time to move one asks oneself???

H/M will as stated be passing (Passing being the operative word) on the 8th. Will give a full update once returned. Only hope that they have fixed some of the rubbish roads that abound there. Thank Buddha my new Tank has 4x4 like my last one.

Thanks for the tip Bill, unfortunately the trip looks as far off as ever - mainly due to bone idleness on my part.

Don't whatever you do stay at the Pet hotel. Seems they cant even get their snap of the place correct. Your bone idleness might be down to there's nowhere to go in N/S anyway. Or could it be that your K.P.Phet Visa has been revoked. Yes that'll be it. It's who you know here not what you know.

Fred the problem seems to be that there are too many outlets for the number of customers. {Not unusual for Thailand). But for every one that closes another will open, always someone who thinks he/she knows better and is prepared to put the money up.

As for hotels, definitely not going to the dogs, new ones appearing everywhere.

Have to agree. H/M will be staying at the UPMARKET Nana Hotel Soi 4 when I go to BKK that always has rooms available. Cant for the life of be understand why???

If anyone wants to know why it's not far from the passport place. One can walk but H/M will of cause take a Taxi. I don't do walking, crossing the road is more than enough. Bit like you Rott Bone idle.

Still pondering on what to do in the evenings Soi Nana is a bit of a dead hole not a trace of life about.

Thanks for the advice Fred......but......(exasperated sigh:smile:)......NS is awash with places to go for a drink, many of them conveniently located for me. But fired up by your lurid descriptions of the action at The Oasis I have for a long time been itching to get up there and get stuck into it. Goulash with noodles will do to line the stomach, but later on one craves something curryish which I presume is not available. Never mind, I adapted to NS so I am sure I can adapt to whatever is on offer.

How much for a large Leo? Heineken? {Not that I am bothered about the price of course, but my mate will ask.) Any local draught available.?

Soi 4 not the same for me since Jools closed.

I always thought the Nana was popular because the rooms are bigger than most. So they say anyway.

Did reply to your post but as usual got lost on TV.

Will enter again.

As previously stated give Oasis a miss till it's finished. I do believe that the stairs are in place now, but still waiting for the flowers to be put in place.

Will give updates on same with snaps once OK to visit.

Beer anything from 60/70bt at Oasis for Chang/Leo more if you go for his German stuff.

Draft, Oasis doesn't do same, did do it once but there wasn't enough call for it.

Nana still has large rooms with Queen size bed. A tad lonely wandering around on your own though. Now there's a thought Party time.

H/M has just returned from BKK had to go via that place N/Smog.

Update the roads are still in pretty bad shape. Pot holes on the way down Bloody disaster on the way up. By-Pass is almost a no go going north. Continues for several KM on the main road.

Even the new bit they have just (few months ago) finished that goes to the side of the new overpass has started to rut up.

What is it with the roads there. They can only be called at best rubbish. Or could it be that the powers that be are pocketing all the cash that's allocated.???

One good thing is that they are now resurfacing some of the old road that's also going north.

Don't hold your breath on when any of it will be finished as there didn't seem to be a lot of work taking place. They are using the down stretch while the road is closed, that by the way is almost impassable in places.

You have now all be advise to stay well clear of N/S only go if you have to.

Thanks H/M

I have to go to N/S tomorrow but I will be in the pickup and the shocks still work I think so I should be OK. I will be going down on the route 1 and back up via Lat Yao.

I haven't been to N/S for a year. I wonder if it is still open?

Posted

They paved the crossroad through the village with black top a few years ago.  It lasted about 6 months and has since been an ever worsening set of pot holes due to the thin surface that they initially applied and the heavy trucks from the gravel pit.  Earlier this week they started resurfacing it again, dirt base spread over the existing mess and then finished with a coat of black top.  I expect that this will last about a month or so.

SIL that lives north of Lat Yao on the way to Bill's house had a motorcycle accident earlier this week.  I don't have much details as to what the cause was but her un-helmeted head took the brunt of the  force and she is in the Government hospital in NS after having two crainiotomies,   Prognoses is not good.

No problem Bill on the 1 going south, that's of cause the K.P.Phet end. OK For two km or so on entering N/S province, then it starts pot hole ruts they have two sections of road that are only 1 way. That's due to road works. You can play the game as you travel along. That's the one looking at all the work that's not being done. Have a safe trip. Tip stay well away from By-Pass.

I understand what you mean about southbound now. I came on at Klong Meelai and it was OK for a while but the guys working the first northbound repair were trained by Brits who repair the roads over there. The cones were out and not a soul in sight.

At least on the bottom one there were SOME guys working.

I came back home via Lat Yao on the route 1072 which is only 1 lane each way and there were road works on that too.

Sadly this afternoon the word was out for ALL the village idiots to drive where Bill was driving. My blood pressure must have been blowing the top off is safety valve and I lost my voice at one point shouting at all the numpties.

Retirement extension at KPP August 18 2017

I did my retirement extension this morning and IMHO the Immigration Office staff at KPP need serious retraining and a boss who will crack the whip.

When I got there about 10:10 there were 3 staff and I got a guy who spoke fair English asking me what I wanted, so I told him a retirement extension.

OK, this is what we want says he.

Blah blah blah.

I have got all that but no bank account as I use income checked at the British Embassy instead. I am not sure if he understood or wasn't happy.

Where is your wife? At home, why? We need a copy of her ID and the blue house book.

Not for a retirement extension says I, and there is the yellow house book in MY name.

Ahh.

You need the TM7 form filled out with photo. There it is.

Ahh.

He buggered off for a bit and other customers came in, agents I think with passports for 90 day reports.

It went quiet for a bit then another guy came over and we started the dance again.

I had everything they needed except a copy of Nee's ID card and a copy of the blue book.

This guy spoke some English but not much and I am not sure if he knew what he was supposed to do.

Then it is sit and wait for the lady who was doing the paperwork.

Eventually I get to her desk and we start the dance again but to a different tune this time.

Meanwhile the other 2 guys have buggered off for a coffee and a fag, perhaps short time I have no idea.

I don't thinh the lady had dealt with an income application before as she couldn't seem to understand that I didn't need a bank book and yes that is the annual income, there is the monthly income, no it is not in THB but GBP. She tried to look up the exchange rate somewhere on the computer and failed so she said not enough income.

Que? She was giving the rate for the Euro and not the GBP and she eventually found an up to date print out of the forex rates for July and finally agreed that, yes, I did have enough income after all.

Then she wanted to talk to Nee and I will ask Nee later what it was about.

Most of the time I was at her desk, reading a book, she was up and down trying to deal with other customers as well. Then the chatty guy turned up and she could concentrate on my application.

Eventually she finished with me but it took about 45 minutes to do what is basically a 15 minute job.

As I was leaving she told me to bring Nee next year.

Nothing seems to convince them there that for a retirement extension I don't even have to be married unlike a marriage extension when I do need to be married.

Compared to Nakhon Sawan for the last 6 years of retirement extensions KPP is like driving down a narrow rutted and flooded dirt track after coming off a superhighway.

Yeah, I can't get the old lady convinced that putting a Soundbomb on the Subbie is a good idea also.  We just returned from a multi-day adventure and it would have been useful a few times.  Scratch that; I lied.  It would have been good to have every 20 minutes or so!

Another way I like going if I have time is to stick on the [3504] heading towards Lan Sak, and then cut over towards Uthai/Chai Nat.  If really adventurous, don't turn towards the [1], but go down to Suphan Buri on the [340] and continue to Pathum Thani.  The [309] is my preferred route for just potting along.

Thanks for the report Bill...Hopefully you can get them fully trained by the time I retire in a year or two!

Don't hold your breath on that. I have to agree with Bill they are at best rubbish.

I had to go in the other week for my retirement Visa. 'Was with the wife' she asked for a TM7 form as I didn't have one.

The Boss??? who Bill referred to, said I would have to get one from the British embassy WHAT.

Then it started like Bill no bugger knew what they were on about.

I as luck would have it had the monies in the bank had a letter from them to confirm. Even so it took over 1.1/2 hours to get it sorted.

As we left the wife said I think they are all stupid. Or it might have been Sutupid.

Even so still better than having to go to N/S.

Wait till you want a 90 day report Bill N/S 1 Min: K.P.P 45 if your lucky.
