will be caught by anyone bearing in mind there is a 17 point gap between first and third and a 14 point gap between 2nd and 3rd

Of course they can be caught.

Winter is here, injuries happen,

all you need is a bad Christmas and the gap could close.

(the chasing pack could also have a bad Christmas)

Sheffield United's gap has been closed to 11 points, I reckon if Leeds went on a good run they may catch them.

As for Reading

NOBODY is going to catch them now :D

They can afford to loose 7 games and still get 100 points and they have only lost once on the opening day of the season!

Perhaps I should make a new poll asking "Can READING be caught"

Hope you don't mind indulging me, but I have NEVER seen my team play Premiership Football, in fact they have NEVER been in the top flight in their 110 year history... Just hope we can do as well as Wigan WHEN we get there.

I won't balme any naysayers for having a go if we blow it, but NO TEAM has ever blown a 20 point lead at Christmas and NOT been promoted.

yesterday we got our 9th staright win. I know its got to end (our winning streak) and we are probably gonna slip on a banana skin somewhere, but I am supremley confident that this is our year.

Maybee in 10 years time there will be a thread called "Reading in Decline" :o

I really hope so as that will mean we had had 8 good years of top flight football and I will die a happy man :D

Looking back at past seasons, it was not that long ago that Pompey, West Brom, Fulham, Charlton, Birmingham, Man City and Bolton were all in the first division,

let alone Wigan and West Ham... so I really don't see why we should not be able to "Have our turn"

Cheers for reading (or Reading whatever)

Well Bred, to answer you question, we have a consistant team now. we never had one before. If a good player is injured/suspended we have cover. Every week at 79 minutes exactly we bring on two subs (same every week).

You may remember John Oster, he played for Everton and Sunderland- he is one of them.

players to watch. Steve Sidwell, (Arsenal youth team player) Dave Kitson (centre forward)- Crouch style -10 times better. Premiership clubs are watching him now.

Kevin Doyle (Striker) From Cork signed this season- REVALATION cost about 20 k

Ibramho Sonko- Senagalise- will NOT go to African nations Cup with Drogba et al as getting promotion is his number one priority. ( Calls Drogba's commitment into question- he's crap in my opinion).

Two Icelandic internationals, 2 Septic Tank internationals (hate to admit it) but boy do they do the business!!

No BIG NAMES here. we had Les Ferdinand, Martin Keown and Shaun Goater here last year and could not even make the play offs (by 3 points).

and then there is Steve Coppell (who I am sure you have heard of) pulling it all together. I must admit that when he was appointed manager after W.Ham stole Pardew I was not sure he was the man for the job........but...seems he is

20 points clear, Hoddle said he would rather be playing us than a bottom of the table team yesterday...... no wonder he is a "Yesterday Man" as Wolves were "Really up for this one" Joke

To sum up: Strength in depth is the key to our success, and there will be more signings in the transfer window.

I will look forward to some banter before & after our games next season :o

Happy New year from one Footie nut to another

I voted that they could be caught(probably by Norwich)as you never know with football, two seasons ago Crystal Palace were bottom at christmas and went up.

The seasons only half way.

After saying that Reading are playing very good football and are well organised, the Sky Sport guy was well impressed with them yesterday,Wolves is not an easy place to go and win.

Another round of matches on Tuesday night, much more interesting than the pedictable preimership.

Nice to se you back BT 100

If my mammaries serve me correctly you have a mathematical chance of catching us........but as you know from last seasons.. the math don't always work out... we both remember 2 seasons ago when it was YOU at the top

ThaiPauly, are really sure you want to win the Championship? You know that all teams who do are cursed to be instantly thrown down into the lower realms. Just take a look at Sunderland.....

As a Blade I think Warnock is deliberately letting you get away so we can follow in Wigans footsteps. :o

However if it backfires and Leeds catch us. Well that just doesn't bare thinking about.

I will take any bets at 3-1 that Reading will be promoted, 2-1 as champions.

I reckon that we will do far better than Sunderland as we have consistnat quality throughout the squad.

Jeez we rested 5 of our best players yesterday and still did West Brom. Lita, who scored a hat trick can't geat a game in the league, .. what does that tell you???

Leeds are out of it now, play off place at best. We have Palace away on Friday , and they have AJ (oh I am quivering!!!) and a draw would be fine, but we will probably win In fact we can loose seven of the remaining 17 games we have and still get 100 points, and considering we have not lost since day 1 of the season anybody that says we are not going up is gonna have to eat their words in 3 months time

WATCH OUT, Newcastle, Bolton, Charlton , Fulham , Boro, the ROYALS are the next Wigan (I am not saying, United,,Liverpool, Arsenal Spurs or Chelsea) but we will give the rest a run for their money next year and we won't be signing any big names... We dont need too!!

Man U in decline, don't give a sh#t as long as I can see the Royals play them next year, a draw at home would be great, loosing away by the odd goal would be acceptable. We always beat West Ham at home anyway, so that swhere we will pick up our points.

When you have waited THIS LONG you have to be on a pink cloud, (Dont you)??

So come on keep those votes coming in and side with a winner for once

I LOVE FOOTBALL

You mean like at Brighton, who we beat 5-1 3 weeks ago Eddie, fair to say that you would be happy with a play -off place, but you aint gonna catch United, let alone Reading!!!

Good luck to you Thai Pauly.

If you do, and it does pretty much look like you will get promo now. I'm sure you might think about a trip to one to of the big boys next season?

If the thought crosses your mind (I know its a long way) and you fancy Old Trafford, (the apparent Theatre of crumbling Dreams) next season, giz a buzz. You never know you might beat us and pass us on the way up during our decline..... :o

What a refreshing atittude to have in the Premiership if the rest of your supporters are like you.

Ps, the vote on this page at the top is well messed up. Its just a load of blurred error messages. Not like it in any other threads though.

Fair play to Reading.I think you will hold your own next seson with the "big boys".

I dont think we are ready for the Prem yet and I would hate to see us go up and then straight back down, but if we do I would prefer to win the play-offs as it gets more kudos than second place and more money I believe.

Leeds had me worried for a while, lots of wins in a row and narrowing the gap.

I don't expect us to get a result at Elland Road next month, maybee playing against you next month could be one of pf our 7 defeats.

I watched the Wigan game in Singapore and thought you played well, and only loosing on penalties in the replay says that you are on the way back, and to be honest your team is practically inreckongisable since the one that played so well in the Champions League hust 2 oe 4 years ago, and what with Risdale and all the problems he gave to the club, I think with Blackwell in charge you are set fair.... if you don't win the play-offs I would be surprised, but failing that I think you will be in a far better position to gain automatic promotion next year.

We have (like Sheff Utd) bee knocking on the door for 4 years now and at last it would appear to be knudging itself ajar.

Although its not over yet I fear Leeds and Palace the most.

If we can do Palace tomorrow night then I think I can safely say we are up

Well it was a draw but that's nothing to be ashamed of away at Palace. I think you can safely say that Reading are on there way. They seem to have too much class and strength in depth to stumble that badly.

The Blades still not far enough clear of Leeds. Well at least it was Wednesday that Leeds beat this weekend.

I was just looking at the Blades run in. We have Leeds fairly late on, Palace last match of the season as well. Not to mention Reading on Valentines Day. Wonder who is going to get massacred?
