Ipad 3 From America. Can I Use In Thailand?

Featured Replies

Apparently when you buy an ipad 3 in the us you have to choose which carrier you are going to use before you buy it. So does it matter which carrier I pick. I am told that the system in thailand is something called GSM and the us is not. Any help would be appreciated.

buy AT&T for future proofing frequencies - most commonly accepted and MAYBE what thailand will use for LTE ....if ever.

Both verizon and at&t will work on current thailand networks however.

Japan/Singapore for example use the AT&T model.

Both the AT&T and Verizon versions of the new iPad are quad-band 3G (850/900/1900/2100) and quad-band 2G/GSM data (850/900/1800/1900) so would work here with either/both 2G and 3G mobile broadband with any/all service providers.

If you want to use the unit in the U.S. on AT&T's 4G/LTE network then buy the AT&T version, or if you want to use the unit on Verizon's 4G/LTE in the U.S. then buy the Verizon version.

The AT&T version might be preferable as "world" option?

There is no 4G/LTE planned to be deployed here in the foreseeable future. 3G works pretty well here, so data plans last a bit longer and you won't need any asbestos gloves. ;)
