I purchase my computer stuff from KL in Malaysia generally as it is cheaper,as I'm going back soon if somebody could answer this...

Looking at a few mini tower systems ,all singing, all dancing 4gb 500 hdd etc, under 10,000 baht, but it is the weight factor that is surprising ,and it is not the case that makes it heavier. Some are virtually twice as heavy size for size, just wondering what would add to the weight difference one model to the next?

Assuming all have the same number of hard drives, DVDs, etc., larger/higher wattage power supply, heavier grade case metal used, size of motherboard.

Faster processors and high-end video cards have bulkier heatsinks and a higher wattage power supply would carry a few extra grams as well. But do not discount the cases as the prime factor as some are built with thicker materials than others. You may be surprised how easily a 'lightweight' case can be bent once the rigidity introduced by the mobo and peripherals is removed; bit like the old Renault 4 that was a rigid as a wet Cornflake box when all 4 doors were open at the same time.
