Foam Insulation, Where To Buy In Bangkok

Featured Replies

I'm looking for medium density foam, more precisely expanded polystyrene which unlike expanded polystyrene is not made up of foam beads that break apart easily. Not really for home building but to use as core material for composite air model wings and fuselages.

The only foam I can find is either Depron type, which only comes in thickness up to 6mm or expanded polystyrene sheets of low density, at the very least I'd like to find this in higher density sheets.

I know this foams are used mostly for home insulation so I thought of asking here.

I knew someone up here in the north who made model planes and could get all sorts of foam.

You must be able to find a model shop in Bangkok if not maybe ask on the

" Sports, Hobbies & Activities " forum, maybe someone there can help.

I think that you are looking for extruded polystyrene.

Ah... yes! Extruded Polystyrene is the thing. I made a mistake there.

Kwasaki, I've been to a few hobby shops, no luck.

From my own research for a SIP's project I am working on it is only imported in Thailand...therefore a bit pricey. But it is here just not readily available.

I purchased a couple of sheets of Dow Roofmate directly from local rep. They have 1" and 2" (2'x4' sheets). Unfortunately I can't recall the price but I can dig up his contact info if you are interested.

Also try Khun Rajen at "Home Builders" he is familiar with all things roofing, a great, friendly resource. He spent about 20 years or so building in the states and has been back here in Thailand for another 20 or so years dealing with "specialized" types of western type construction. When I last purchased some roofing products from him the subject of rigid insulation came up. He said he used to import it and might still have a source.

Good luck, please report back on your findings!

You're in luck AleG...At the Architect's Show (at Impact Muang Thong Thani through the weekend) I came across a booth selling EPS that is locally produced. The name of the company is "Cheer System International". This appears to be their website, http://www.cheersystem.com/index_.html...not too great. But their booth was pretty well setup and the flyer was decent.

I'll check that out, thanks!
