Sandra Fluke is supposed to speak to the democratic convention today. Will she admit that she was 30 year old, long time, liberal activist who enrolled at Georgetown in order to fight the school to pay for students’ birth control? She had been advocating for mandated coverage of contraceptives at Georgetown for at least three years before the senate hearings according to the Washington Post. All that to save 9 dollars per month to pay for her birth control.

Birth control is not all that Ms. Fluke believes private health insurance must cover. She also believes that it is discrimination deserving of legal action if “gender reassignment” surgeries are not covered by employer provided health insurance. It will be interesting to see if she brings any of that up. whistling.gif

Well, so far, the democratic convention has been a STELLAR success.

Polls out clearly show Michelle's speech was rated MUCH HIGHER than the Stepford wife.

Clinton's speech? Well, that was remarkable. I've been watching convention speeches all my life. This was indeed in the top tier. The expectations were high. He not only met them, but he exceeded them massively. I'm in awe of him now.

Obama's speech is coming. I'm assuming it will be at least a very good speech, potentially greater, because let's face it he has the charisma.

So what's the upshot?

Simple.

Obama will get a very decent BOUNCE from this incredible convention. Forgetting the national numbers, I hereby predict that a few days after the convention Obama will have a SOLID lead in the polls in ALL swing states.

So how could Romney still win?

Well the debates are an opportunity but the most likely outcome will be close debates without clear big winners. So they have to hope for major mistakes, gaffes, etc.

Also, be assured, the republicans will get massively DIRTY now because they will be totally desperate. I expect lots of RACE CARD type PAC ads. You already have that with their coded ads about welfare.

In any event, the odds seem better than ever now that the radical right wing party can be shown their traveling papers come November.

Learned a lot from that speech. I had no idea that things were going so well in America since I left in 2008. So who wouldn't vote for more of the same? Let the good times roll!

The democrats backed down on their platform and put Jeruselem and God back into the wording. However, the vote was broadcast all over the world and much of the liberal crown was yelling and screaming and throwing a tantrum that it was being changed. Who says that the democrats do not feel a need to pander to the Jewish vote? laugh.png

You can tell how many were delighted to have to revert to the 2008 wording, I hope people are watching and taking note - as principled as a wind sock the lot of em.

Increasingly, the Democ-rats are being forced to reveal their true face to the American people, and the folks are not taking kindly to what they are seeing. The party of the enemy, the enemy within.

"Dissent as Dems put God, Jerusalem back in platform
"

CHARLOTTE, North Carolina — Democratic big-wigs faced an embarrassing revolt Wednesday as they put references to God and Jerusalem's status back in the November election platform despite strong opposition from members.

Amid chaotic scenes, Democrats began the second day of their Charlotte, North Carolina convention, amending a platform they adopted just 24 hours earlier

The democrats backed down on their platform and put Jeruselem and God back into the wording. However, the vote was broadcast all over the world and much of the liberal crown was yelling and screaming and throwing a tantrum that it was being changed. Who says that the democrats do not feel a need to pander to the Jewish vote? laugh.png

HOLY CRAP! Did you guys see the roll call vote on this? It was sooooo embarrassing. I'm not saying it as a right winger, but as an American. I'm not complaining about the "God" or "Jerusalem" part. I mean they take the AYE and NAY vote THREE TIMES. Three times because we all know that Liberals love to keep on voting and voting until they get the result they want. EXCEPT, they DID NOT get the result they wanted. Anyone watching has got to admit that the AYES and NAYS were pretty much equal (that's really why 3 times). Only the chairman just said OK, the AYES win by 2/3 majority vote! And the crowd went wild booing! Here it is, the voters are just pushed aside because the party elite knew they screwed up by removing God and Jerusalem and had to insert them back. A sad day for Democracy at the Democratic Convention.

Check out the video, The look on the Arab-American woman's face when she reads the resolution on the screen is priceless.

They should have had separate votes. Now it looks like Dems are anti-God AND anti-Israel. Which, uh, maybe they are.

Sorry dude, the God-Jersusalem roll call vote fiasco will harm the Democrats. This "stellar" convention just became a meteor crashing towards Earth.

That was my impression too. It made me want 4 more years of Clinton more than it made me want 4 more years of Obama.

I still enjoyed the Cowboys' win over the Giants more than Clinton's election speech for Hillary. :cheesy:

From the right-wing Associated Press...

OBAMA ADVISERS DON'T EXPECT BIG BOUNCE IN POLLS

Sep 6, 9:48 AM EDT

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) -- President Barack Obama will lay out his vision for a second term, even as advisers say they don't anticipate a big bounce in the polls following the Democratic National Convention.

White House senior adviser David Plouffe (pluhf) tells ABC's "Good Morning America" he expects the race to remain "tight as a tick" until Election Day.

I guess the advisors are less enthusiastic after...

First having to move Obama's speech to a venue almost 1/4 the size because of lack of interest,

AND having the iconic Bill Clinton speak while most people were watching the NFL season opener between the Cowboys and Giants

AND the viral videos of perhaps the largest blatant display of corruption in modern political convention history, the "God & Jerusalem" roll call vote rigging for all to see

AND the SNAFU of the DNC chair Debs Wasser-Schmidt giving long explanations why God & Jerusalem were not in the platform then turning around the next day to say the omission was just a "technical oversight" - both on CNN (and not Fox News)

http://edition.cnn.c...an-schultz.cnn#

http://www.realclear..._oversight.html

Man, when CNN starts going after the Dems, you KNOW something is going horribly wrong for the party. If Obama doesn't deliver BIG, this could be the first convention where there is a deflation afterwards instead of a bounce.

Just to show I am not as mindlessly partisan as some, I must say I feel that Obama's speech did not meet my expectations. It was somewhat under what I would rate very good. It was better than Romney's speech, no doubt, but it felt a little bit short for me. My prediction still holds that the polling in the next week will show Obama leads in all swing states, and of course his ultimate reelection. Except if there is a major screw up in the debate or some outside unpredictable event that turns against him.

Obama has started to lose likeability and support from single women in polls. He failed to deliver the specific new policies to address the economy that he has been promising for weeks. My prediction is that the convention speaker's justifications and excuses for the miserable economy will be forgotten after a few weeks and Romney's momentum will continue to build.

The media can't keep hiding the truth from the people forever. CNN needs to improve their ratings and being more "fair and balanced" is a way to do that. Romney by 8 1/2 points in November.

I made this post on the Clinton speech thread in the News topic. Thought I should post it here for anybody interested in the truth. Besides that, watching a crazy woman rant is worth the price of admission.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Here's a real barn burner of a speech given at the Democratic Convention supporting Obama. The good part starts at about the 3:10 mark.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Just one teensy little problem with Governor Granholm's rant. The automaker bailout started in 2008 under the Bush administration. TARP funds were used. Obama had nearly nothing to do with the initial UAW bailout.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Bush Approves Auto Industry Bailout

By Meg Marco on December 19, 2008 6:29 PM

President Bush has approved a $17.4 billion auto bailout, with $13.4 billion in emergency loans to prevent the collapse of GM and Chrysler and another $4 billion to be handed out in February.

The loans are meant to be a lifeline — and will keep the companies afloat until March 31st. At that point, says the NYT, the Obama administration will "determine if the automakers are meeting the conditions of the loans and will continue to receive government aid or must repay the loans and face bankruptcy."

The terms of the bailout are almost identical to the plan rejected by Republicans in the Senate a week ago.

That'll be tough now that the Jewish lobby has seen the true face of the Democratic Party they have so faithfully (and foolishly) supported all these years. Taking out the Jerusalem part is bad enough, but watching the convention hall with at least half the people there shouting it down? You mentioned before how some Jews supported Hitler. Well, history is repeating itself. Except that while this time around he is still a smooth talker and able to whip his supporters into a frenzy, he's just a few shades darker now.

You're making stuff up now! Jews will vote massively for Obama the same as last time. As anyone who understands politics knows, political conventions attract the more fringe elements of their parties. So democratic delegates are more left than democrats in general and republican delegates are more right than republicans in general (which takes a lot!). You are DREAMING if you imagine this trivial platform incident will change the Jewish vote. Also, your comment is one of the most radically OFFENSIVE ever posted on the forum. Comparing Obama to Hitler. bah.gif SHAME!

If you are actually interested in the issue, many American Jews (including me) think that while the U.S. should remain a close military ally of Israel, that it is NOT a bad thing to not take too firm a position on the potential DETAILS of a potential negotiated two state solution. Doing so means the U.S. has ZERO credibility in helping with those potential negotiations. Peace in that region means self determination for BOTH sides. Liberal American Jews (MOST of us) understand that nuance and don't feel the American government needs to officially agree with the most right wing elements of the Israeli government to remain a good friend and supporter of the existence of the Jewish state of Israel. Also American Arabs are also an important demographic for the democratic party. Reports are that group were the loudest booers over that floor incident. Understandably. The democratic party is big enough to include American Jews and Arabs. I am not worried.

Didn't you compare gays voting Republican to Jews voting for Hitler on this very thread? Save the feigned outrage for someone who has not been reading your posts.

Hey, if not for that fringe element showing up, Obama would have had to re-re-schedule his convention at the local high school gym in order to fill a venue up. They already had to move from the ~74,000 seat stadium to the small 20,000 seat arena due to lack of interest.

You are DREAMING if you imagine this trivial platform incident will change the Jewish vote.

For something so trivial it sure had the Dem leadership falling all over themselves to correct. They looked like fools in front of the rest of the world. That voter fraud "2/3 wins" when nobody in their right mind believes that to be true (Wasserman does, but she isn't in her right mind). Those pesky Jewish donors must have made a few phone calls and the end product is not only clear, indisputable evidence of the Dems penchant for voter fraud, but it is also evidence that the Jews really do run the country - or at least the Democratic Party.

On a side note, did you notice that the Dems also cancelled the Mulsim prayer they had planned? First that slap in the face, then re-inserting Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, Good thing for you Dems the tiny Muslim faction in your pocket isn't very powerful - unless they stay away and Romney wins Michigan.

More bad news for the Obama campaign. Another lousy job report.

WASHINGTON – U.S. employers added 96,000 jobs last month, a weak figure that could slow any momentum President Barack Obama hoped to gain from his speech to the Democratic National Convention.

The unemployment rate fell to 8.1 percent from 8.3 percent in July, the Labor Department said Friday. But that was only because more people gave up looking for work. The government only counts people as unemployed if they are actively searching.

The government also said 41,000 fewer jobs were created in July and June than first estimated. The economy has added just 139,000 jobs a month since the beginning of the year, below 2011's average of 153,000.

Dow Jones industrial futures, which had been up before the report, fell soon after it was released.

The report was weak throughout. Hourly pay fell, manufacturers cut the most jobs in two years and the number of people in the work force dropped to its lowest level in 31 years.

Following is a rather remarkable editorial when considering the author, Dana Milbanks, is noted for his liberal positions and support for Obama. Could the dawn be coming to the liberal media?

Obama the demigod comes down to Earth

By Dana Milbank, Published: September 7

CHARLOTTE

From the article...

The Democratic National Convention was to have opened here Monday with a festival at the Charlotte Motor Speedway, where, convention officials said, some 100,000 people would participate in a Labor Day festival that demonstrated the party’s openness and inclusion.

After a couple of nights at the Time Warner Cable Arena, the convention was to have closed with President Obama’s acceptance speech at the Bank of America Stadium, where convention officials were planning to squeeze nearly 6,000 seats onto the field to expand the stadium’s capacity beyond its usual 74,000.

But the speedway event was canceled — ostensibly because of logistical problems but more likely because convention fundraising was running low. Then the Democrats canceled the stadium event in favor of the smaller arena — ostensibly because of “severe thunderstorm” concerns but more likely because they couldn’t be sure enough people would come to fill the stadium.

In fact, the forecast hadn’t called for severe weather, and conditions were fine Thursday night. The change caused thousands to be turned away, and the crush of crowds at the arena led authorities at one point to lock down the building for a second straight night – leaving some delegates on the street while lobbyists enjoyed the proceedings inside.

Honesty would be nice.

Like admitting that Obama now has a solid, healthy lead against Romney.

Like there has been a healthy Obama bounce from the convention thanks to Bill Clinton.

That Obama is going to win OHIO, and that if Romney can't win OHIO, his victory is nearly impossible.

Obama got a small bounce from his convention as did Romney and there are two months left until the election.

The job report was terrible.

Romney has more money to spend than Obama .

Romney is a better debater and has been doing it consistently for years and the debates will make a big difference in how people vote.

Obama has real problems without a teleprompter and he can not use one in a debate.

Flashback: Gallup Had Carter Up 4 Points Over Ronald Reagan in September 1980

Posted by Jim Hoft on Saturday, September 8, 2012, 9:31 PM

Gallup polling today put Obama ahead of Mitt Romney by 4 points after the godless DNC Convention.

Back in 1980 Gallup had Jimmy Carter up over Ronald Reagan by 4 points in mid to late September… And, Carter was up 8 points in October. In fact there was a published Gallup poll showing Carter up six among likely voters in a poll conducted Oct. 24 to 27.

Ronald Reagan ended up winning by 9 points and taking 44 states.

Flashback: Dukakis Led Bush By 17 Points After 1988 DNC

By Noel Sheppard | September 09, 2012 | 13:23

The media are gushing and fawning over new poll numbers showing Barack Obama getting a bounce from the just ended Democratic National Convention putting him four points ahead of Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney.

Before they get too cocky, they might want to recall that after his convention ended in 1988, Democratic presidential nominee Michael Dukakis led George H.W. Bush by seventeen points.
