DTAC Set to Sell 1.2 Million Smart Phones This Year

BANGKOK: -- DTAC has introduced a special campaign that offers discounts on more than 30 models of smart phones, starting from 228 baht per month, while expecting to sell 1.2 million smart phones this year, up from 600,000 sold last year.

Chief Commercial Officer of Total Access Communication or DTAC Petter Furberg revealed that the company has joined hand with Aeon, First Choice and Ready Credit in organizing a campaign to offer special discounts on more than 30 models of smart phones from Samsung, LG, Sony and Blackberry.

This special deal starts at only 228 baht per month which will also including minutes and wireless internet plans.

DTAC is hoping to sell 1.2 million smart phones this year, a significant increase from last year, which saw 600,000 units sold and 80 percent growth in mobile data usage.

The company is hoping to raise its revenue by eight billion baht and expand its market share by signing up four to five million new customers. The company is currently ranked number three in the country.

Furberg added that by July, DTAC will have the total of 5,000 3G HSPA network ground stations and increase the number of Wi-Fi hotspots in populated and business areas.
