I am very satisfied with Munkala clinic, Ratchamanka (or Ratmakka) road corner soi 3. Not far from Moon Muang road.

The lady doctor, who has a practice in McCormick has a good reputation, but she gets very busy and it's a bit like a conveyor belt. There is also a Chinese man who is recommended...his clinic is in Wororot somewhere...perhaps someone else will be able to give yo directions. There is the British Tinnitus Association online, which might provide some tips.

Has Meniere's disease been ruled out?

I second the recommendation for Mongkala Clinic. Click on the link here for a street view. Free parking is under the trees, inside the wall; entrance on the side street.

The Chinese Acupuncturist in the Wororot market area is "world-famous in Chiang Mai" the old Chinese pharmacy in Chang Moi Road (left hand side) can send you in the right direction and has his contact details.

This is Dr Wang and you will find him at the Chinese pharmacy every day between 0900-1300

Well,... there you go LOL

I did not know he worked from that pharmacy directly.... I only knew that if you needed him you had to go there.

Thanks for the extra info!

I believe he and his family own the pharmacy. I don't know about the acupuncture but we were not impressed with the concoction of herbs and whatever else that he prescribed for the g/f. The stuff was expensive and she said it did nothing for her condition and tasted like hell.

Unless he has changed he has a practice there in the back for chinese medicine. He does his Acupuncturistwork else where. He used to leave the market at 2:00 in the afternoon and go to the place where he did his Acupuncturistwork.

I saw him serveral times two years ago as well as the one mentioned in the old city. Really got no help from either one. But I had tried them back in Canada to no effect either. I guess I am one of those who is not receptive to them. But I do know people who they have helped.

Try them both.

^ as it is a form of "faith healing" you need to believe, just being open minded is not enough to get the "healing".

Khun Vee, what do you mean 'is world famous in Chiang Mai' ......Is he world famous or just famous in Chiang Mai?

Ahh,... that might be my bad and a bit lost in translation.

In my native language (Flemish) it's an sarcastic/ironic expression, meaning that he's very well known or famous,.... locally only.

I'm not sure about that.

It is well proven and documented that Acupuncture is effective also to the 'non-believers' as it is an effective Physical treatment.

But it has to be practiced by a skilled Acupuncturist with little to no room for error or it will not have none effect indeed.

I did not need any treatment myself yet, but a close friend of mine, who thought it was all Voodoo black magic and stuff, (it took a long time and many debate to get him to try) after more than a decade of suffering a serious condition underwent countless treatments and even surgery from conventional medicine, got cured within 6 months from Acupuncture alone,....

Nope. I've read a few "holy" books and found nothing about acupuncture mentioned therein.

Unless you would consider the Wall Street Journal peddling "faith"

"As fanciful as that seems, acupuncture does have real effects on the human body, which scientists are documenting using high-tech tools. Neuroimaging studies show that it seems to calm areas of the brain that register pain and activate those involved in rest and recuperation. Doppler ultrasound shows that acupuncture increases blood flow in treated areas. Thermal imaging shows that it can make inflammation subside."

Well it has never helped me but my non scientific mind tells me the basic principal makes sense. I guess it is my belief that keeps me trying it. I asked my doctor about trying it for the sort of numbness tingling I get in my feet and she said go ahead give it a try.

What are the basic principles of acupuncture that makes sense, dolly? (in your own non scientific words).

That expression is world famous in Flanders and Netherland.

I am in my Fifties and decided to take up Marathon running to prove something a while ago. I went to Mungkala regularly for a year as I had a problem with my knees and also my Prostrate. The Doctor there is absolutely Charming and can diagnose any condition from taking your pulse. But unfortunately neither condition improved. I then went to the Chinese Doctor who works out of the Pharmacy in Worarot but after only 1 session decided not to return. After this I went to the Hospital near Chang Puak on the Super Highway just after the large Computer Shop for 6 sessions also having no change at all. I then thought that I would try The Thai Traditional and Complimentary Medicine Clinic [ TTCM ] and is in the same road as Wat Phra Singh which is owned by Sripat [ Suan Dok ] hospital which almost nobody knows that they are working together. After only 1 session the Doctor alleviated the problem in my knees so successfully that I am now entered for the Phuket a marathon next month. However during this whole time my Prostrate had got so bad that I was waking up every hour at night to Urinate.. There are 2 Doctors who work at TTCM the Doctor who cured my knee problem was unable to help my Prostrate in any way at all. But the other Doctor after only one session cured my Prostrate to the extent that I no longer have any kind of Prostrate problem at all. The Doctor who cured my Prostrate is unable to help my knees but after 1 session cured my Prostrate. The Doctor who cured my knees was unable to help with my Prostrate. Both Doctors have different techniques the results have been astounding . I apologise that this is a rather lengthy post but Prostrate problems are extremely common for men and I am writing this in the sincere hope that someone may benefit. Last year I visited my GP in the UK who told me that I would have to have an operation or take medication for the rest of my life but there are alternatives that do work. TTCM is a truly fantastic place and for me personally I will be grateful to them forever. It is a very pretty place and unbelievably cheap. It costs 1800 baht for 6 sessions or 350 per session. Clearly I have no connection.

I have no idea why acupuncture may or may not work for some conditions, so don't qualify as a true believer.

I did take an aggravating neck-shoulder problem to Munkala a couple of years ago, found the atmosphere very professional and after four treatments (the number originally prescribed with no suggestion for more) it was gone-- somewhat to my surprise. I'd had it for many months before that and it has not returned.

My Thai friends originally sent me packing to Dr. Wang at the Chinese pharmacy. I found him a very pleasant man and approachable man with good English who seems to know his Chinese herbs and more. He had a steady stream of local patients queued for consultation. The pharmacy is a cultural experience in its own right. I visited "the place where he does acupuncture" once, but for me, Munkala was more to my taste. No offense intended to Dr. W.

Have also heard good things about the McCormick services, which are apparently less expensive. (At the time, 1/2 hour acupuncture from both Munkala and Dr. Wang were 500baht.)

Your scientific mind would not be able to grasp them. I suggest you ask one of the lads.wai.gif

No, you said that your mind tells you the basic principles make sense, so I would very much like to hear about acupuncture, as related specifically to the basic principles as you see them..

OK you win.

All matter is energy. it comes in different forms the nerves are transmitters of energy from some part of the mind to mussels. If you interrupt the flow it will have a effect.

Give it a try it might help you. I just know that so far 5 practitioners on two different continents have done nothing for me. But I will probably break down and go see the one in the old city about my feet.

Hi cmsally. If you are standing looking at Wat Phra Singha you need to go left towards Chiang Mai Gate. It is on the left hand side opposite a vacant lot which is being used as a car park.

The trouble is that the songtell drivers don't know about mussels. Their just trying to line they're pockets so that they they can feed there families.
