Multiroom Tv

Featured Replies

I'm looking to install a multiroom TV & audio system using a HDMI digital modulator with IR control and signal going to the various rooms via existing co-ax cables. If anyone has done this, I'd appreciate some feedback and also if anyone knows of any potential suppliers in Chiang Mai or Bangkok.

I think any kind of molulator that could accept an HDMI input would be very expensive but anyway I don't quite understand why you would want to do that. You would lose all the benefits of HDMI in the outputted signal. Or have I misunderstood your question?

If you are starting with an HD source and HDMI cable that would seem to be the best way to go.

Converting to coax you are going to loose quality

Here is an article that may help you.

Thanks for the replies. I'm prepared to accept some reduction in quality using co-ax as the house construction will not make it easy to run new cables and I don't want to use wireless.

Can anyone recommend a Chiang Mai source of digital modulators?

Cheers

You could try Pantip CM but even in Pantip BKK there are only a couple of shops with specialised HDMI etc stuff. BTW, I think you're gonna get a fright with the price.

yep, they are around $3-4K in Oz but Alibaba have some good prices if I can avoid import tax.

Why not IP broadcast and use powerline networking..

Can be HD in a home network setup and far less cost.

Plus it solves the control and command side of the problem and commands are IP handled.
