From that I learned about http://www.hotelscom...ined.com/ This was a real eyeopener. As shown in the attachment this site not only gives the ultimate price after taxes, fees, etc but more importantly it shows , even if the price between various sites is close, the product that you end up buying can be substantially more or less in value.

The story was, my sister had gone to a travel agent and was recommended for 2 weeks the Chedi Hotel in Muscat at about €5600.

Not bad but , me being the protective brother had to check. The price on hotelcombined plus flight was considerably cheaper for the much better Shangri-la Barr Al Jissah Muscat. Normally I would have stopped here if it were not for one more valuable suggestion in above thread= CHECK with the hotel direct. And sure enough, on the Shangri-la web site there was a special deal for 2 weeks = 200€ instead of 287€ plus an endless list of discounts, worth real money.

So thank you for sharing your knowledge! You helped that my sister can spoil herself rotten, well deserved after having had a very tough time!
