Skytrain offers 'free rides' to children on National Children's Day

BANGKOK: -- Bangkok's skytrain offers 'free rides' to children on the forthcoming National Children's Day, which falls on January 14.

Bangkok Mass Transit System Co. (BTS), which runs the city's elevated train service, announced on Tuesday that the company would allow the 'free rides'--from 06:00 a.m.-midnight--to all children with the heights of no more than 140 centimetres on the day.

The children are required to travel with their parents from the beginning to the end of their journeys.

Coupons for the one-day free travelling are available at all BTS's 23 stations.

The children will also be given sets of stationery and travel guides on safe communications with mass transit systems.

The city's skytrain passes through several places where activities on National Children's Day are organized, including Planetarium near Ekkamai Station, Children's Museum and Bangkok's butterfly and insect park near Mo Chit Station,

T.K. Park in Central World Plaza near Chidlom Station and a historic and public park in honour of Princess Mother near Taksin Station.

For more information, please call BTS's hotline at Tel. 02-6176000.

I wasn't even aware that you had to pay for children. Have never been asked to or been challenged about taking ours on. The guards open the gates at the side of the exit machines for them :o
