hi there!

i'm unfortunately not an expat, please excuse me posting here...

but i thought why not give it a try. i'll be in bangkok monday next week for two days / one night for some myanmar visa-checking before i head on to ranong province. for this one night i am looking for a nice guersthouse or hotel close to, but not directly at kao san road, where the travel agencies are. a hint which travel agency is known for ggod work would be highly appreciated too.

so please tell me where you let your friends sleep when they come to smileland.

What budget you looking at or is that not a worry? I've heard good reports about the Royal Hotel, which is about 5 mins walk from Khao Sarn, think its about 1000 baht a night.

Khao San Road isn't the only place with travel agencies - they are all over Bangkok! If you get a hotel on Sukhumvit or the Siam area you can use the Skytrain to make connections all over Bangkok and even connect with the new subway (Asok) and bus station (Ekamai.) No close Skytrain stop in the KSR area.

What is your price range for hotels?

When you price your plane tickets compare your quoted price with another travel agency or two. In the KSR area there can be some variations in the price of plane tickets from travel agency to travel agency.
