Thinning Hair ... The Horror

OK, I'm in my mid 50s so thinning hair isn't exactly a big shocker.

Its most noticeable in the back area, as opposed to a receding hairline in the front.

At this point if it didn't get worse as it's at a stage where its more like a "only my hairdresser knows for sure" I would happy to freeze it where it is.

Of course it's going to get worse.

So what about Rogaine? Is there a generic for it now? I know it doesn't usually work so well so cost is a factor.

What is the monthly cost for Rogaine in Thailand?

Also I should mention my scalp feels somewhat itchy but I don't see any dandruff flakes so I haven't bothered with dandruff treatments. Could that be the cause, in which case I doubt Rogaine would help? I am overall allergic so its not that I've really been particularly bothered by my scalp. But I am bothered by the thinning hair. (I'm so vain.)

BTW, my Dad kept his hair until very old age by my genetic hair background is mixed. Some went mostly bald earlier.

Hi Jingthing, my boyfriend has been using Proscar for approximately 7 years and has a very healthy full head of hair. He noticed thinning about 10 years ago, and a friend put him onto Proscar. Friends of his with hair thinning issues have also used Proscar and very happy with the results.

My boyfriend only uses a quarter of one tablet daily so its cost effective. One box costs approximately 1700 baht for 30 tablets.

Not sure what your issue is, but thought i would mention what seems to be very effective hair thinning-wise.

Best of luck!

If you are in your 50s and only got a little patch you are lucky. Try not to worry to much about your hair loss. If this worry escalates more health problems may surface. It is a natural occurance especially in westerners. Just accept what is happening live with it. This way you will be less stressed. Remember that life is the most important factor. Hair loss is very low on your life scale. I hope this helps.

Natural schmatural. Do I impress you as someone who places a high value on natural? bah.gif BTW, just in case anyone asks and I'm a bit surprised nobody has yet: no, I do not have ... head lice.

Thanks I will look into that. Hair loss hasn't been on my mind and I hadn't even realized there was more than one option now.

Yeah the men on another side of my family all got bald by age 30. Of course they hated my guts as I was still sporting hippie hair.
