In the process of moving into a new home in chiang mai, I've been looking for somewhere that sells those stair gate things that will prevent my two year old from falling down the stairs.

Any ideas?

I have never seen for sale or in use here so you might have to draw it up and have the local woodworker make it if you can not find in department stores.

I'd get the local 'chang' to just make something door/gate-like.

Saw it at bangkok central department store, not sure chiang mai airport central, you have to check it out.

You can order from Central dept store but the local Chang could almost certainly build you a new staircase for the price.
