Are any of you guys out there looking after a LAN... if so how often are you SNMP polling your network nodes?

Ive been led to believe that statistic polling more often than every 5mins can have a detrimental effect on the network... anyone have any opinions on this?

Hey there.

Remembering back to my HP Openview days, a poll interval of about 5 mins was suggested. SNMP packets are pretty small so its a negligible effect on an ethernet LAN, can be more of a consideration over WAN links.
