Charges against officer found valid

BANGKOK: -- The police serious-case disciplinary investigation committee yesterday said it had unanimously found charges levelled against Thong Lor police inspector Pol Lt-Colonel Pannapon Nammuang to be valid.

The charges are: failing to perform his duty with decency and fairness, leading to severe damage; recklessness causing damage to the force; negligence to perform his duty, leading to severe damage; and allowing exploitation by others, leading to injustice and damage to the civil service.

Pol Colonel Sunthorn Khemaprapa, who chaired the panel, said it would summon Pannapon to hear the charges in three days and give him the opportunity to explain himself.

The committee would then discuss the matter further and submit its ruling to the Police Commission to consider suitable punishment. This would entail a discharge from the force, either with or without pension.

Pannapon is accused of trying to help Red Bull heir Worrayuth Yoovidhya to avoid hit-and-run charges.

After the incident in which Pol Senior Sgt-Major Wichean Klinprasert was killed, Pannapon wrongly took a butler at Worrayuth's house into custody.

I'll bet his did this for many influential others before too.

This won't be a one-off. I hope they check his past and let

out previously banged up innocents.

Would the tough line being shown if the man killed had been a member of the public and not a Policeman?

I hope that justice is done in this case. I'm sure all of all of Thailand is watching and waiting

The rule of law means nothing to these people......Pandoras box is always open, it's how they live their lives.

The Thais don't realize it's cases like this yhat make them look stupid to the rest of the world........and with the F1 / Red Bull connection this story will cause major damage to the country is justice is not seen to be done.

This not a matter of discipline, it is a criminal act and dealt with as such.

I am convinced that the Thais really don't give a tinkers dam how the rest of the worl see them.

As far as this Police Officer having getting the opportunity to explain, what the HELL is there to EXPLAIN.

He tried to cover up a murder, and got caught doing it.

IN trying to cover up a criminal action, he caught poked up the Arse by the Horns of the Red Bull in a conspiracy to defraud the court.

^^ It wasn't a murder.

Nice to give him 3 days notice though, should be plenty of time to go hide in a temple or something.

They can share a cell in prison. Maybe that was his plan from the beginning?

Agree, he should be standing alongside the Butler in Court on the criminal charges and what of the parents who were involved in the same scam and attempted coverup? They are just as liable and should also be facing charges but it appears that the Butler is going to wear it all alone in court.

P.S are we twins? keep the Avatar, I'II change mine.

Has it occured to anyone that this action in itself could in fact be a cover up for someone higher in the Police force and that the Pol Lt-Colonel is being used used as a scape goat for someonehigher up the police food chain to a certain degree, not disputing he should not be charged for what he has done, but one assumes the Yoovidhya family has contacts in the police who are a lot higher in rank than a lowly Lt-Colonel.

And in a situation like this, one assumes the family would be using their high level contacts and possibly the instruction came down to make this problem go away, and the Lt-Colonel was charged with this task and got caught out

Just a thought

One would imagine that this policeman committed these offences at the request of another party, presumably one who would benefit from his actions.

Will that party be charged for attempting to pervert the course of justice or this not a crime in Thailand?

It is a crime and the Butler has been charged. He is looking at more time in the Hilton than the son.

Probably not but the "tough line" has more to do with media exposure because of the family involved.

Without the famous family and a police victim, this would be just another of the many road accidents.

Cheque book justice would still be done but not in the media spotlight.

How about the new new national police chief, Pol General Adul Saengsingkaew wanting to make a "statement" to his staff - to far fetched?

You thought too mutt

He better hurry up, shave his head, take robes, do merit, release some opium sparrows and think about his future. At this point justice is not being seen to be done until he is arrested in trying to pervert the course of justice apart, from his other charges. This is, as already said, a criminal act and nothing to do with a mild disciplinary action by the B.i.B. C'mon Thailand, for once in your lives do the right thing...

This is serioius....he could get a 30 day suspended sentence and 2,000 baht fine, but by the time such a sentence is possibly handed down he will have probably been promoted to full colonel in his inactive post.

Isn't Thailand a wonderful, juicy, tangled web of deceit. It's a crime writers paradise. Agatha Christie would have had a hay day here.

I don"t think the whole of Thailand are watching and waiting.I"ll bet 90% of Thailand don"t give a $hit what happens, because they already know the outcome.

I have never heard of this committee:

police serious-case disciplinary investigation committee

Apparently, they aren't very active.

Either that, or they are so busy investigating new cases that they never get anything finished.

And Pandoras Box was opened!

What does it really matter? Whatever sentence will be suspended and sombody will be transfered.

Dont' be fooled. This is just for show to defuse the public outcry over the insensitive killing of one of Thailand's inconsequential undermensch by one of its privileged "licenced to kill" overlords. Nothing can happen to the police lt col for several reasons, e.g. he knows too much dirty stuff about more senior cops, convicting him would implicate the "Boss" family who apparently forced the servant to fall on his sword, etc, etc. His case will be delayed for a long time, along with Boss's and then both will either be acquitted for lack of evidenced or given a ridiculously small punishment due to prior distinguished record.

WOW...if they took every BIB up on these charges, there would not be too many left...although how is it possible to damage the BIB image any further?

They have to get this Lt-Colonel dissociated from the police force so that he can receive the funds he has arranged with the Rd Bull heir and avoid a conflict of interest. Then he can quietly disperse the profit sharing back up the chain to his supervisors that will no doubt arrange for is termination with pension/kickbacks.

I remember I was attacked by posters here for suggesting Thong Lor was the most corrupt cop shop in BKK not so long ago.

He tried to cover up a murder, and got caught doing it.

just as well your not a lawyer then...when has a murder been covered up ?
