Used Notebook/laptop

Featured Replies

Hi I've been to Fortune Town and I was quite disappointed with the selection. Can anyone recommend a retailer that sells used but relatively new condition notebooks. I guess I'll have to do Panthip but it's so huge that any tips would be appreciated.

My specifications are that I want a very fast Notebook, Windows XP, 30 Gb+ Hard Drive, in very good condition. I'm prepared to look at an Apple Mac. My budget is up to 30 000 Baht. I'm quite computer literate

Thanks

Charles

To be honest I avoid Pantip if at all possible, just too much hassle 'wanna buy sexy movie?' :o

If you fancy a little ride out try Zeer Rangsit, it's under the Asia Airport Hotel so taxis will know where it is, or take a train to Rangsit and get a taxi at the station.

Much more Thai oriented than the likes of Pantip, and lots of places selling used kit, including laptops. No (well very little) hassle.

I personally have used Prathum PC (2nd floor near the front escalator) on several occasions for used kit (although not laptops), good warranty, helpful, although English is limited so a note pad is handy for writing down what you want, it's amazing what writing "RAM 256MB" does rather than trying to say it in a way they understand.

"I don't want to know why you can't. I want to know how you can!"

[helllo,

for 30,000 baht, you can buy a decent new laptop, either a compaq or an acer, atec, maybe a BenQ.

That tip about the notepad is a simple but brilliant one. As a well educated Thai friend of mine once remarked while I asked directions from a car. 'It must be frustrating that half the Thais being asked for directions find it beyond comprehension that you are asking in Thai and thus either ignore you or make gestures that they don't understand English even though they are being addressed in their own language'

Quite...

The notepad will be with me for any shopping trips from now on.

Thanks for that. There really isn't much incentive in the used Notebook prices when for a small amount more a new machine can be purchased. If you have any feedback on which brands are best I'd appreciate that as I just don't know if there is much difference in quality. I will also post a request for info on this subject.

I haven't looked at the latest offerings in the laptop department in about 6 months, so i am not sure what's the best deal. i thought the acer notebooks were the best value at that time, though you have to buy and install your own operating system. the lowest price was less than 29,000. i have heard that customer service was not so good, but have no experience in that matter.
