Jai Dee Posted January 31, 2006 Posted January 31, 2006 NEW PROGRAM WILL BE LAUNCHED ON RADIO THAILAND. The government prepares to launch the Thai Cybercop station program on Radio Thailand, FM 105, tomorrow. Minister attached to the Prime Minister’s Office, Newin Chidchob (เนวิน ชิดชอบ) said during a press conference that the Thai Cybercop station will begin its broadcast starting tomorrow on Radio Thailand. The program will be aired from Mondays to Fridays from 3PM to 5PM. He added that the government will begin its cyber hunt game service on thaicybercop.com for registered members tomorrow, after letting the people signed up for games aimed at eliminating obscene websites on the National Children’s Day earlier this month. He said that the website will serve as a channel for the people to give the authorities any information related to obscene media, so that they can be eradicated from the country. sriracha john Posted January 31, 2006 Posted January 31, 2006 70 million Everyone should hurry as that will ALMOST deplete this nation's supply of hello kitty collectables.

astral Posted January 31, 2006 Posted January 31, 2006 A two hour programme FIVE times a week to encourage people to find naughty sites. Sounds rather counter productive to me. Also show how little else the Thai people have to do with their time? Like dealing with real problems, poverty, drought etc.
sriracha john Posted January 31, 2006 Posted January 31, 2006 Porn show starts Published on February 01, 2006 The Cyber Cop radio show will kick off operations today aimed at cracking down on websites promoting pornography. PM’s Office Minister Newin Chidchob announced yesterday he would participate in the first episode today. To be aired on FM105 between 3-5pm on weekdays, the show will serve as a channel for people to inform authorities of obscene websites, as well as offline vendors peddling sex movies. Information on porn sites and obscene material in other media will be passed to police, who will then take legal action. The campaign will extend to offline promoters and sellers. Newin warned operators of shopping malls to monitor their tenants because operators would be held responsible if police, following tip-offs, catch tenants distributing pornography on their premises. Newin said he planned to ask the courts to hand down the harshest penalties to people convicted of selling obscene materials, a crime that carries a fine up to Bt3,000 and up to three years jail. He believed the culprits should receive prison sentences without suspension because pornography often led to other social problems. In a related development, police yesterday searched a house in Don Muang of the operator of www.pamvcd.com, who is accused of peddling VCD copies of a pornographic movie starring a lookalike of a popular female singer. Webmaster Harirak Phewngam, 27, was taken into custody when police discovered 1,000 pornographic VCDs at the house. Eleven computers were seized as evidence. The Nation *edit* with the apologies, the title should read anti-porn

otherstuff1957 Posted February 1, 2006 Posted February 1, 2006 Has anyone registered on the Thaicybercop website yet? If so, how about reporting this obscene website: http://www.thairakthai.or.th/
sriracha john Posted February 1, 2006 Posted February 1, 2006 BANGKOK, Feb 1 (Bernama) -- Thailand's Ministry of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) on Tuesday vowed to take strict measures against operators of online games shops and pornographic websites in response to complaints that many computer game shops nationwide violate the law by allowing teenagers under 18 years old to play games later than 10pm. The Thai News Agency (TNA) quoted ICT Minister Sora-at Klinpratoom as saying that some shops quietly allow their premises to be used as hideaways for using alcohol, drugs or indulging in sexual activities after normal business hours -- behind closed doors on upper floors or in spaces behind the public business area. Really?! WOW!? Does the ICT Ministry keep a list of their addresses? Sora-at said that shop operators found guilty will face severe penalties. He said that Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra had assigned Minister Attached to Prime Minister Office Newin Chidchob to direct a crackdown on those shops and the ICT ministry to look into the sites accessed by young people, especially pornographic websites. According to the news agency, the public can dial the hotline 1111 to inform of illegal operations by computer shops. In addition to tight controls on pornographic websites, the ICT ministry plans to curb the posting of porno materials via postal services, he said. Those who require mailings using postal boxes must be real persons and not merely using postal drops as a blind to hide their true names and addresses. Closed-circuit TV will be installed at post box sites to record images of possible senders and receivers of porno materials. Recorded images can be used as evidence against those involved in this illegal business. -- BERNAMA

I can see this being a very popular program as people who can't access blocked porn sites tune in to find the ones that haven't been blocked yet or where to buy the latest XXX dvd's. I can see it now, little Somchai is caught by his mother downloading porn on the net only to be told "mum, l just want to help gather evidence for kuhn Newin.
sriracha john Posted February 1, 2006 Posted February 1, 2006 For every 5 sites they turn in, they get a 10 baht coupon for Wells Ice Cream at 7/11. For every site where they find photoshop'd photos of a naked Khun Newin, they get a free chicken dinner at KFC. *edit* Hmmm.... why do I get the feeling Penzman is gonna "find one."
thailien8 Posted February 1, 2006 Posted February 1, 2006 Yes, whenever the government's in trouble, a good old-fashioned crackdown on sex 'n' drugs will do the trick to distract the public. By the way, anybody checked those sidewalk tables displaying porn videos on the odd side of Sukhumvit lately? A month ago, last I looked, there were 5 or 6 of them with displays of tits, pussies, and anal sex for all the children of the "quality tourists" to see as they walked along this marvelous shopping street. I'm sure the dads and moms were thrilled that their youngsters got to see this porn on the street, while the cops in Nana Plaza made sure that no such sexual displays were to be seen anywhere in those adults-only bars....

Here's one of Newin and Mr "CTXXX scanner" Suryia in a little "under the desk" foreplay session while sitting parliament. (*whispering*) - Newin, all these questions about the scanners are making me feel sooooo hot!" - Me too, but I'm a bit nervous in front of all these people... -Don't worry, I've got the situation in hand. Can't you feel it? -Yes, yes, YESSSS!
simon43 Posted February 2, 2006 Posted February 2, 2006 Although we have all heard about this Cybercop plan, where are the hard facts? What is the policy of this organisation? What is the process for investigating a website? What appeal process does the webmaster have??? Oh sorry! - I forgot we are in Thailand! I presume there is no policy or appeals process. It's just done on the whim of the powers that be Simon PS - Just exactly where are all these porn-sites hosted then? I thought that 99.999% are hosted outside of Thailand...

Most spokepersons for these bright announcements have no IT knowledge whatsoever and are confused between blocking access and shutting down websites
