I've just bought one of these at tesco to copy some big files onto,

but it keeps saying please insert a disc when I have already done so.

My disc drive is a Samsung DVD/CD-RW SN-324F...DVD/CD ROM.

Are these not compatable with my laptop?

Thanks for your replies

Your drive is a combo drive. It can read CDs, CDRs, CDRWs, DVDs, DVDRs, DVDRWs. It can writer CDs, CDRs, CDRWs.

The problem is you're trying to access a blank DVDRW. The drive doesn't see any info on the disc (it's blank) and it doesn't have the capability to write to it.

I think you'll find that the Samsung 324F is a CD writer but will only read DVDs and not write to them.

So if I buy another kind of 4.7gb disc would I be able to copy files to that?

Thanks

No because your Samsung cannot write to any type of DVD, it can only read them.
