We married in Thailand about five years ago but did not register the mariage until 2010

We have two childern, both with UK passports and intend to permanently relocate to the UK in about three years from now......My Questions:

(1) How long does a settlement visa remain valid for, I see this referred to as 33months but does this mean we could delay use of the visa for that period of time

(2) Is it still possible to reduce the timeframe for an ILR application by claiming time spent together in a relationship outwith the UK and if so does the village wedding count towards this timeframe or would only the legalised marriage term apply

33 months for the initial settlement visa (entry can be deferred for three months to leave 30 months validity). No you cannot apply and delay for that period of time.

No - the new rules have removed the ability to claim time spent abroad living in a relationship akin to marriage. Everyone is now treated the same.
