Hi i have just spoken to a Visa serive company i have seen on the internet and they tell me that my GF cant have the TB test as she is 3months pregnat (as i already new) but he also says there is no other way around it i will have to stay and have the child in Thailand before we can apply for the settlement visa. (we have been together long enough etc so think the other aspects of the visa will be ok)

Can anyone please tell me if there is any way around this as in previous posts i am sure i was told we could get a letter from the doctor or something like that and could still apply and get the setlement visa.

If so can you give me the details of how we are to go about it?

I will call the embassy tommorow and find out what they say and post there reply but i hope we can still do the visa app as i cant really stay here until the child is born but dont want to leave my girlfriend while shes pregnat.

Also if anyone knows how old a child needs to be before they can fly then i can work out a worst case senario

Many thanks and hope to receive some postive news

I suggest you either wait for a reply from the embassy or contact the clinic run by International Organisation for Migration (IOM) staff at:-

54 Harindhorn Building, Unit No.9, 9th floor

North Satorn Road Silom, Bangrak

Bangkok 10500

Tel +02-234-7950-5

Fax + 02-234-7956.

It is possible to test for TB by means of a sputum smear, so this may be a way round your problem.

The relevant page on the embassy website states that testing will be conducted by either x-ray or, where necessary, sputum smear, so it would appear that the latter relates to pregnant ladies.

Hi many thanks to the both of you

Big sigh!!

I will call the medical centre and the embassy tommorow and let you know of the outcome and put a post in the pinned TB so other people can see at a glance if they are in the same situation.

I was reading the forum and saw 1 of the google adds on the right regarding UK visas i had a look at there site and gave him a quick call regarding a question with marriage and when i said she was pregnant he said 100% there's no way around the settlement visa our child would have to be born in Thailand and wait until the child was able to fly before we could return.

I wouldn't use a company like this as it obviously shows they don't have a clue what they are talking about prob some farang set up the company for a quick buck!!

So thanks again and will let you know of the outcome

Scouse.

Your right 100% Scouse, I have just been through it all. The only way is three days of smear test early in the morning and it is apperantly not so nice. However I did not do it as my wife was 8 months gone and it was not a comfortable option for her at the time. However 3 months should be ok.

Goodluck :o
