Rimmer Posted November 14, 2012 Posted November 14, 2012 Pool hall fight ends in gunfire and death HUAY YAI: -- A 42 year old local farmer killed after being shot 5 times outside a pool bar A fight broke out in a local pool shop between players on neighbouring tables. Witnesses report that the men were both drunk and began to argue, then shout and finally end up in a huge argument at which point the killer drew a 9 MM pistol. When confronted with the armed assailant, the dead man showed no fear and instead defended himself with a pool cue as they both moved out into the street. In anger, the dead man dared the gunman to shoot him, which he duly did. Shot in the head, neck, waist, and shoulder, the dead man was recovered from the street by police and emergency services, as he lay alongside his snooker cue and a can of beer. The killer escaped in a pickup truck prior to their arrival. Six empty gunshells were recovered. Both daughter and family quickly ran to the scene and were comforted by locals as Ambulance services removed the body for forensics. Clearly alcohol and stupidity was at fault If he didn't have a gun, he couldn't have shot the guy......you understand? In a place where guns are banned this incident would have ended up in a punch up, perhaps with snooker cues. 10

ydraw Posted November 14, 2012 Posted November 14, 2012 In a place where guns are banned this incident would have ended up in a punch up, perhaps with snooker cues. Or a stabbing/glassing.

And there have been plenty of deaths by beatings/stompings, let alone knives. This guy challenged a dude with a gun. Stupid. What if it was a knive VS pool cue? better odds but still stupid.
Andre0720 Posted November 14, 2012 Posted November 14, 2012 In many instances, alcool and stupidity, combined with possession of a gun, ends up in a tragedy And some people argue for more liberal gun laws. Stupid stupid stupid. 1

Nothing to do with a dream world. Yes he acted in a stupid way. But if the other moron only had a knife, this fellow might have survived. It is not because someone may die from a beating or a knife wound, that possession of guns should be allowed...Sophism... 1
johnnynmonic Posted November 14, 2012 Posted November 14, 2012 (edited) Sounds like the guy brought a pool cue to a gun fight... RIP to the deceased. Edited November 14, 2012 by johnnynmonic 2
Maggusoil Posted November 14, 2012 Posted November 14, 2012 Guns are definitely, the cleaned, quickest and most decisive way of disposing of another being, however, if you are looking for a cause to use one, go no further than mixing alcohol into the blood stream, goes to the brain etc etc It is called a no brainer, for this reason and hey it was some time ago but last time I looked here ALCOHOL had pretty much caused someone to beat his friend to death with a hammer, arguing about the virtues of female prime ministers. Only ALCOHOL could possibly create such distortions of perception to make that a life and death issue. Even coke and steroids won't do that. WHICH is why this little pooch pretty well leaves the stuff alone. If you're gonna ban guns, you'd better put hammers in the slammer with them. 2

The problem is not the gun, but the brain of the killer. 3
Beetlejuice Posted November 14, 2012 Posted November 14, 2012 When confronted with the armed assailant, the dead man showed no fear. How could he, he was dead. I`m not trying to be funny, just the way this article is written. Here is a warning, in Thailand try to control your temper. From experience I have learned that many Thais, although curtious, calm and polite most of the time, are on a very short fuse and can snap in an instance if provoked. Keep that in mind if out and about and stay safe. 2

steffi Posted November 14, 2012 Posted November 14, 2012 Yeah it was funny the way it read. Dead men can do a lot it seems. Instead of "Dead man" they author should have written "victim"

The UK where handguns are totally banned for civilians there is a rapidly increased amount of handgun crime.

transam Posted November 14, 2012 Posted November 14, 2012 I acquiring handguns easy in Thailand? Why ?
masuk Posted November 14, 2012 Posted November 14, 2012 I acquiring handguns easy in Thailand? Calls for a total ban on all firearms. I read recently that Thailand has more guns than the Philippines. that's really saying something!!
blackthorn2005 Posted November 14, 2012 Posted November 14, 2012 I was expecting tis to have happened in Phuket, the new wild, wild west!
Popular Post Tolley Posted November 14, 2012 Popular Post Posted November 14, 2012 If you went into any pub in Australia and hung around the pool table late in the night you could very easily get yourself into a fight. Now if lots of people carried guns in Australia you can be assured that instead of being beaten up you would more likely be killed. The more guns that are in circulation the more likelihood that some idiot will use them. 5
masuk Posted November 14, 2012 Posted November 14, 2012 Carrying guns in Australia is totally illegal. Apart from hoodlums and robbers of course!
Pormax Posted November 14, 2012 Posted November 14, 2012 It is just so easy to get a gun in Thailand. It may be illegal but young Thai men don't care. That's why it is best to avoid large gatherings of the young locals especially where there is live music. They go tooled up ready and looking for a fight, a few drinks and it's guns and knives drawn.
Chads Posted November 14, 2012 Posted November 14, 2012 Why do so many scuffles here keep ending in gunfire?
gaucho Posted November 15, 2012 Posted November 15, 2012 I acquiring handguns easy in Thailand? Calls for a total ban on all firearms. I read recently that Thailand has more guns than the Philippines. that's really saying something!! no that could NOT be correct ...if it is then thailand is really AMAZING
quandow Posted November 15, 2012 Posted November 15, 2012 "the dead man showed no fear and instead defended himself" - Does ANYBODY else see the quality journalism displayed here?
Always18 Posted November 15, 2012 Posted November 15, 2012 The "Ban it" brigade should really try to understand that banning the lawful possession of anything merely deprives law-abiding people of that item - it does NOT and can NOT make those items magically disappear form society............as the UK has found out on many occasions!

Clearly alcohol and stupidity was at fault If he didn't have a gun, he couldn't have shot the guy......you understand? In a place where guns are banned this incident would have ended up in a punch up, perhaps with snooker cues. A bit of both really. They could just as easily use a glass, bottle, knife, pool cue. The chances of being killed by these are probably less than being killed by a gun, so not having the gun would help. Take away the alcohol and you probably wouldn't have the fight in the first place. 1
