talk2sam Posted April 3, 2013 Posted April 3, 2013 12 Months contract @ 300k per/yr accomodation wt truevision, three meals per/day, Visa and work permit ...and most especially wonderful students..doing great here.... You eat all three meals at the school? Generally eat out.. Eat there sometimes just to interact with teachers and students.
Neeranam Posted April 3, 2013 Posted April 3, 2013 1.12 month paid (if we do summer course, if no summer course 11 month) 2.work permit, visa etc paid. 3.Apartment paid by school. 4.Return flight home each year. 5.1,000b increase each year. 6.444,000b per year 7. 20-22 periods per week 8. adequate students 9. lunch at school (well they call it food) 22 periods a week seems rather high unless you can group them all in the mornings or afternoons. I guess getting a flight home makes up for having to work the holidays.
isawasnake Posted April 3, 2013 Posted April 3, 2013 Thanks. Good replies. Any more? I need ammo when I negotiate tomorrow! . There is no negotiating here. It will just be "you sign, or you get lost". They will say the same thing in a year too, even if your teaching is superlative.
mike123ca Posted April 3, 2013 Posted April 3, 2013 I sure miss Korea 12 month contract at public school and if you complete the year get a 1 month paid bonus. Here i get a 12 month contract and the school feels like there doing me a favour.
HeijoshinCool Posted April 4, 2013 Author Posted April 4, 2013 Thanks. Good replies. Any more? I need ammo when I negotiate tomorrow! . There is no negotiating here. It will just be "you sign, or you get lost". They will say the same thing in a year too, even if your teaching is superlative. You're half right. There is no negotiating, but I'm the one who said get lost . Okay, actually I said, no thank you. With a big smile. I originally decided to teach for a year or two, to contribute something. But neither the director, nor any teachers, give a damn if the kids talk talk talk, or learn anything at all. Total lack of discipline. No textbooks, no tools of any kind. Just wanted that white face posted out front on the school wall. And it is all about face, yes? Now my GF and I give free lessons to a dozen kids who do want to learn. A much more pleasant atmosphere.
Puyai Posted April 4, 2013 Posted April 4, 2013 - 12 month contract - 1 1/2 months holiday (no signing in) - 10 days sick pay - 15 days business leave - visa and work permit - free lunch - 1000 Baht rise per year - taxes paid - 14 teaching hours (probably going up by 2 hours next semester) - 408,000 Baht per annum
