Really nice, Shaggy ... your recent images really are sensational.

Could you tell me, is this a single image, or are you doing some exposure blending?

Thank you tangaroa

All my pics are single images.

I really love taking sunrise/sunset shots, and try to capture the scene as I saw it.Before I had many issues with loss of details in the shadows.

Those were the days before I started using a tripod. What I try to do now is to ever so slightly overexpose the shot, resulting in a lot more shadow

detail, then try and bring back the highlights in PP.

I should really invest in some filters at some point, but for now it is longer exposures and Lightroom

This is the same morning but taken much earlier,a little unclear to see,but I think you can just make out on my monitor screen that the sky is slightly overexposed.

Edit.....forgot to mention the most important part.....Shoot RAW!

Good timing, @Ron19 thumbsup.gif

Took 12 shots and it was very hard to see what I had till I looked at them on the comp.

Nice! What focal length did you use for that, Jimmy?

Um er... that's a very technical question...facepalm.gif I don't keep up with these things..... and I seem to be missing something when uploading images from LR to Picasa, it does not show the meta tags... one day I will sort that out... Camera lens is 18-200... does that help? tongue.png

From same position on the beach... I also got this...

Yes, @samuijimmy ... it helps. My guess is you were fully zoomed in for that shot i.e. at 200mm, which couple effectively be double that, dependant on your sensor size.

Horizon halfway but wanted the foreground for depth without taking the pic from closer to the ground. I'd thought horizon needed to be 1/3 or 2/3 but this seemed ok I thought.post-87979-0-96314400-1459915034_thumb.j

Thanks for the welcome and comments sj. This is my 2nd post. My 1st was #1912 with 2 pics, one of which I see has a 20% horizon.

Good to see you posting again, been a while^^

Cheers, @mrhitchens ... I was back in the UK for a while, and the smog up here has been truly awful since I got back. I'm praying for rain, and lots of it!
