A little further digging reveals what everyone knows, the current owners are related to the ruling family. But I'm sure no money that came from the sale of oil anywhere down the line was involved. I'm sure al Jazeera had $500 million in advertising revenues lying around.

As far as I know they don't have a cable presence in the US now. Perhaps that is the reason for spending $500 million with Al. Right now, their Al Jazeera English is only in NYC and Wash DC (although it must also be in Dearborn?) I went to the Al Jazeera English website and watched their video about their plans in America. I think it's a great idea and am all for it. It would be refreshing to have a different perspective than the traditional right or left. For anyone who has watched CNN Int'l over the years, I think some of the talking heads will be familiar as well.

January 13, 201313 yr There are some very informative news shows on Fox including Fox News Sunday, The Journal Editorial Report and Special Report. There is also 9 hours a day of hard news that is little different from any other major news network.Too many people that know nothing about what is on offer at Fox make judgements based on what they hear from people that pretend that it is 24 hours of Sean Hannity and Glenn Beck. Glenn Beck has retired from Fox and Hannity is on for a few hours per day.
