I know one can always hire a taxi, but that gets expensive.

I have discovered that both the bus (Cherdchai Tours) and the minivan from Ban Phe will stop at Lad Krabang railway station.

From there, it's only a few minutes (trains every 20 minutes) to the airport.

Unfortunately, I haven't yet discovered if the bus or van will stop to pick up passengers there on the outbound trip. Doubt it, so that means a trip into Ekamai or Victory Monument, and then bus or van back to Ban Phe.

I've only noted this from Ban Phe, but assume it might be similar to other buses or vans from this eastern direction, eg. Rayong? Chonburi? Chantaburi? Trat?

I haven't used this route myself, yet, but makes it much easier than going all the way into the city and then back, or even convincing the bus to stop at Baan Chalong and taking a taxi from there.

Anyone knows more about this, I'd sure appreciate your posting, or sending me a PM.

I take public transportation out of Ban Phe to the airport and also use the public transportation for return back to Ban Phe and what works best for me is:

Flying out: Van out of Ban Phe to Lad Krabang railway station then BTS into the airport. I use the van service located right in front of Petra's Market on the main road in Ban Phe as have found them to be best.

Flying in: There is a express bus service to Pattaya ($150 baht) leaving from the same level the taxi's leave from. Walk to your left just before exiting the terminal and their booth is all the way down to the end of that corridor. From Pattaya you can get a van into Ban Phe ($200 baht). Other option is a bus out of Pattaya to the Rayong bus depot, then songthaew from the depot into Ban Phe. Be aware the songthaew service ends around 7pm if you decide to go into Rayong.

There is also a bus between Suvarnabhumi and Rayong, but I think it goes only twice a day. One is about 10:30 in the morning, the other about 2 in the afternoon.

I'll definitely try the Lad Krabang route when next I fly out. Sure would like something similar returning.

This van service I mentioned in front of Petra store has always been great for me. Used them a couple of years and now they come pick me up at my house when I make a trip out. I think if you get their business card and call them after you've cleared the airport asking for the next van coming out of Bangkok to stop at Lad Krabang station to pick you up, they could accomodate you.

Sounds like a good idea, one to investigate. I've used the van for general trips into Bangkok - got on from beside the 7-11 across from the bus station, but it's the same one, I think, that stops in front of Petra's.

I wonder about getting them to stop at Lad Krabang on the way out. First, they'd have to assure there was an empty seat leaving Bangkok, and I don't know just where the expressway connections are. I know it's easy enough inbound, but don't know about the outbound route.

However, something to investigate, and maybe be able to connect with them by phone from Suvarnabhumi. Just hope we can do it in English, as I'll admit my Thai is well below pathetic.
